I think you're still confusing "ford" and "the dealer you picked"
Hey Mike,
I agree with you, and I’m going to try a dealership thats closer to me, that may install it, and consider it covered under “Warranty”... I’m guessing that Ford will cover it, but certain dealerships, don‘t won’t to touch it... we’ll see...

That is good to hear. Curious, did they give you a whole new motor, or use a refurbished one/rebuilt parts
Thank you Garret, It was an all new motor. It’s the only way that Ford would replace my engine to get me back under the original Ford Warranties etc... ?

It's a catback right?

Put it on yourself. Should take all of 30 minutes if you take your time.

I know there is a part to this I have not read into. But I'm getting the basics.
Engine blew, and know one knows exactly the cause. Since 5 star was mentioned let me share my experience. Don't know anyone from 5 star, may be great people and make great tunes. But I would stay away from their tunes, me personally.
I bought a tuning package from them about 3 years ago for a 2011 f150 6.2, loved that truck by the way!
Never felt completely satisfied so I bought a tune from SCT, was much happier with that tune. Later decided to have a guy a couple hours away build me a custom tune with his dyno and experience.
We tested all the tunes and he was able to improve a bit. Didn't really gain much but got the satisfaction of knowing what my horsepower and torque was and that the engine was running properly. What we had found from the dyno was that the tunes from 5 star tuning were lean, lean enough, if I would have pulled something heavy or spent much time racing up and down a track I probably would have melted the engine down, it was not a good scenario. Now the SCT tune was near-perfect and he wasn't able to gain much over that tune. We actually lost a couple of horsepower but gained about 8 foot pounds of torque more.
I suppose it's quite possible that five star makes good Tunes and have a lot of happy customers, I can't say yay or nay, but in my case their Tunes were not safe for me to run in that truck.
So since the tunes you were running were from five star my guess is that the Tunes we're not safe for your engine and therefore the cause of your failure. Could have been something else but quite likely based on my experience with them.
Your full of it. 5 Star doesn't make lean tunes.. They also leave all of Ford's safeguards in place so your engine is safe.
I have had multiple vehicles tuned by 5star in the past 10 years with NO issues

FINALLY, GOT MY TRUCK BACK!! I’M EXCITED!!! I went to work on graveyards, Friday night... and my wife and mom surprised me with having Midnight sitting in the driveway when I came home the next morning... So I got to drive him to work over the weekend... LOVED IT!!! After driving rental cars for 102 days, it’s like having a new car smell again lol... trying to relearn where all the controls are again is funny... been driving a Dodge Charger the last part of this leg..

I’d like to thank everyone for those that supported me, and to those that didn’t, and offered different ideologies, thats fine too.. I’m not mad at ya... let’s just agree to disagree... Like I said before, there is so much talent on this forum. A lot of you posted threads that I used, to build my truck... by all means, just don’t turn on one another... be supportive vs over critical... help a man with his new project ? just sayin...
So would you consider modding again or no? Did the failure happen on around the down pipe out of curiosity? I recently installed one and was worried about the radiant heat afterward lol.

I’m so glad everything worked out for you!

Weird your dealer said no install on FP exhaust. Further more they denied warranty probably on the tune and etc not the exhaust, it was just a cherry on top for the uninformed dealer. I went to a big dealership, I was the first Ranger they tuned . They had no problem forcing their ASE tech to learn how to do it from FP. They also installed Roush CAI and FP exhaust with no mentions of warranty removal. Plus, the FP exhaust IS COVERED BY WARRANTY. I think your dealership you went to is uninformed and lazy.

Look them up here.

It's been shown that they remove the barometric adjustment provided by the stock tune.

If I were gonna get an OTS tune for my Ranger 5 Star would be the last place I'd go. There are multiple stories of issues with their tunes here, and the level of customer service they seem to provide on the forum is quite lack luster.

Glad your other vehicles were fine. But I'd think twice about letting them near your Ranger.

5 Star's original tune release (Early 2019) had an issue with the barometric sensor being omitted by mistake thus causing the P0068 code and high altitude drivability issues. They corrected all their tunes to include the sensor data resolving the issues and posted that on here back in 11/2019.

The P0068 code has been addressed and fixed, it was an issue for some time and has since been corrected.

What the P0068 code means. This code means that the manifold absolute pressure or mass air flow sensors that detect air flow through the air induction system and the intake manifold have readings that contradict the readings that are coming from the throttle position sensor.
So no 5 star does not remove the sensor data as many on here believe.

I'll stand corrected on the barometric input point.

However, I'll stand firm in my other opinions. There are a lot of people who have had, and continue to have, problems with their tunes. Many of which who had experience with them before on other vehicles and were previously happy.

The thread your quote is from is a perfect example of why I wouldn't consider their tunes as viable options.

But to each their own.
