Got the fender vents in. Painted them Oxford White to match the truck. Grill painting is next on my list as I am envious of @Joyride and his grill. Only other Ranger I've seen like that and I like it ;)

Looks awesome! Your truck's gonna be on a whole new level when you get that full Storm Trooper treatment with the grill.

Not sure how functional they are, but they are open whereas the Lariat vents were not. I assume that may help move hot air away from the engine compartment.

So this morning I installed Tailgate Gaskets, a Swing Case, and set of mud flaps, this after running tow light cables, installing diodes and a 2>3 converter in the tail light housings, along with removing the tow hooks and installing the BlueOx base plate tow adapters. Next month a BakFlip T-Cover.
Would love to hear more about your tailgate gaskets. What did you use?

Thanks! I always thought a "white" appearance package would be a nice option. But I do like some contrast, so not everything will be white.

I got the ESI set, they seem to seal well and were not hard to put on, instructions were a bit sparse but I figured it out. The contents listed 2ea 4.5" sections of larger gasket but they sent 1X 14" piece, threw me off for a moment or two. Not enough alcohol wipes but I have plenty, gasket sticks well and can be re-positioned 3 times as long as you don't press hard. Looking from the inside I no longer see any light, so should be good.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but the fender area is boxed in, it does not lead to the engine bay. This is why people have to cut into the engine bay when installing a snorkel. As far as I am aware the vents on our trucks are purely cosmetic. I sort of wish they did not add them and we just had smooth fenders.

Decided to give it the “good stuff”. Want to be sure all my Ranger’s inner parts continue to run smoothly, so put 93 octane in it. I’m going to do that for the next several fill-ups.
I did that yesterday and winced. 60 bucks for the fill up. If prices go much higher Natasha’s going on a diet! ?

Here, 85 is $3.65 a gallon. 87 is about $4 and 91 is about $4.40. Given that 40 cents a gallon equals $4 a tank between 87 and 91, I have decided to just buckle down and go with 91. In the long run, it will add up but, per tank, it ain't much. I also get 15 cents off per week through Shell (because I am a T-Mobile customer) and that helps. I try to fill up at 1/2 tank because I cry less per fill up... :headbang:

In the old days of unreliable cars they say that keeping the tank fuller is easier on the fuel pumps because it's less work to pressurize less empty air space. The same physics probably apply to whatever capless vented high tech whatever they are doing now with gas tanks and fuel pressure. A turbo application absolutely will be a high fuel pressure application, fuel psi raises 1:1 with boost psi, at least on my Lima 2.3T.

Yeah - when I installed my Safari snorkel I had to cut a hole through the inner fender and then brace the inner fender around that hole. Not only that, the fender is kind of sealed with the fender well liner. Okay, not really sealed but inaccessible unless you take stuff apart. Air doesn't flow around too awfully much. If I remember correctly, it does kind of empty out behind the fender where it seams with the leading edge of the door. But when the door is shut, I don't think a lot of air is escaping in any large volume.

Jack, You are correct, my bad!

I assumed they were open because of the opening under the vent on the outside, but when I look inside the engine compartment, I don't see how any air could get through from the inside to the outer section of the fender.

...tail between my legs for assuming and not actually verifying!

MBRP catback installed. Quality, fit & finish are top notch and I like the sound. Not obnoxious and smooth, a subtle sound increase over stock which was exactly what I was looking for along with the improved flow of course. No need for a Ranger sounding like a 400 hp Focus RS.

Nice. I assume you added a new cold air intake as well? Any details on which one?

Thanks. I thought about an intake upgrade but just have a drop in k&n that came with the FP tune I had installed before taking delivery of my truck. I've been debating switching back to the stock filter element though as the like 2 hp you get from a k&n is not worth the decrease in filtration in my opinion.
