Sorry I can't help directly. I can tell you 2" spacers with 285/70's absolutely require bar removal with a 2.5" lift. Like not even close to fitting. I don't know if an extra 0.5" from a 3" lift would have done the trick. I'd like to say not.

The difference between 2" spacer and 1.5" spacer is only 12.5mm I believe. I'm guessing a 285/70 vs. 275/70 is only 1" in height?

From my understanding and others can correct me. Suspension wise you should be fine. The potential issue will be with the crash bars. I know a few have run that size tires with little to no rub. I was going to run 285s and actually purchased tires. However, my worry over the mpg hit and other factors I will be going with 265s.

I ran Toyo 285/70 on 2.5" lift with crash bars in place.

Once you put the spacers on though all bets are off once you poke that wheel out so far.

Appreciate the input I may have to take spacers off. Think I might take the spare and put 1 on and check it out.

If you want to run that lifts with bigger tires in that size you can but do not use the wheel spacers. It will fit just fine without them. If you put the spacers on you will rub and have to do modifications of sorts

I am running 275/70/17 on stock wheels with 2.5" lift, without spacers, and I have no issues with crash bars.

If you must run the spacers you will need to do something with those crash bars.

Thats good to know. I got the FOX 2.0 leveling kit and I really don’t care for spacers but I do want some 275/70/17 or even 285/70/17 if possible. You say the 275’s with no spacers don’t rub at all, but is that only on normal driving or have you tried them off road too?

And has anyone tried the 285/70/17 with the leveling kit but no spacers on and off road?

I have Firestone Destination XT in 285/70-17 with stock sport wheels and no spacers what so ever. I have the Old Man EMU lift kit(front raised by 2.4 and the rear 1.6). On road I dont have any rubbing. Offroad only a little but not enough to worry.

I also have sway bar disconnects so the front will compress easier Offroad

Crash bars? I removed the plastic covers off the fronts and pushed them forward.

Here are some pictures

I remember looking on here trying to see what tires I could fit to make it look cooler without rubbing or to understand my options if maybe I want to put aftermarket crash bars for a bigger tire and weigh out what I want to do.

So when looking to go up in tire size to keep those stock wheels (especially the stock grey ones on the sport package why not keep them they look great) there are 2 potential rubbing scenarios, on the crash bars or on the spindle (knuckle). Go too wide and the tire will rub the spindle, 275 should be a golden ticket to never rub, thinking of going to 285 look at what tire someone is saying they are running at 285 that isn't rubbing the spindle because for sure some 285 tires rub the spindle. Then if you try to put a spacer to clear the spindle now the tire might rub the crash bars at full lock and bump. So then you might want to raise the front up lol. Raise it up with some new adjustable coilovers or coilovers preset at a certain height such as 2" increase in ride height up front. My suggestion, 5100's for the bang for the buck or the fox 2.0's. I put eibach 3" lift coils on some 5100's at the lowest setting and it was fantastic. I sold the whole strut assembly like that to a guy that had the fox 2.0's because he wanted that extra inch of travel from the 5100's.

So you can see it can be a snowball with 285's. It doesn't have to be if you research enough.

I had aftermarket crash bars but as I kept modding, they got in the way too.

So there are 2 rubbing scenarios, and there are 2 uses of the word spacers. One is for spacers that stick your wheel out and the latter being the cheap way to raise your truck on the already sucky stock shocks.

Yes, I have many off road miles on the 275/70x17 and zero rub.

What tire are you running? I just "emergency ordered" Falken Wildpeak 275/70R17 to be installed when I arrive in New Jersey. I have a 3.5" lift up front. My concern is rubbing on the steering knuckle!

BFG ALL TERRAIN T/A KO2 - from memory the BFG has just under a 1/2" of room between the tire and top of the spindle.

With Firestone Destination XT on 285/70-17 I dont rub the knuckle what so ever. If anything on the OffRoad in a turn and suspension compressed I only have minimal rub on the front crash bar.
