Great question Henry. Most likely they bolt on in order to make assembly of the truck easier at the factory?
Another reason could be in order to make repairs at body shops easier?
You could ask your same question about many items. I mean technically they could weld the bumpers onto the truck frame. Why don't they do that?
Yikes....I had to look up JMO Phil. First glance I thought that was an acronym for something else! LOLHi Folks,
One word..... JMO.

What all did you use a sawzall or an angle grinder?
yes angle grinderWhat all did you use a sawzall or an angle grinder?
Nice hood.Yes they do. Borrowing a picture from @SICKQK this is what crash bars doing their job looks like. But, to each their own.

It's perfect....not a scratch!Nice hood.
OverbiteNice hood.
it's a test mule for the new "denali" trim; in production the empty space will be a giant block of chrome.Nice hood.
Geeze.. really? Who did you contact at Ford to determine this?Edit: Here's a good picture on 33's. They made these bolt on so you could easily remove them to add larger tires. I'm guessing IF there was a big liability issue here Ford would've welded them on to cover their ass.
Yes I was ASSuming this but why would Ford design it this way if not for the intension of removing them to add larger tires? ?Geeze.. really? Who did you contact at Ford to determine this?
Guessing and assuming...
Maybe they are bolted for a reason at the factory to make the truck easier to assemble?
Yup, and good luck with insurance once they know the bars were removed.yup, they are there for a reason
So are most of the parts. The bumper is bolted on for example.Yes I was ASSuming this but why would Ford design it this way if not for the intension of removing them to add larger tires? ?![]()
Invalid question. Why are the bumbers removable?A lot of bro science going on here on both sides of the argument so let me add to the noise,
IF the crash bars are so crucial then WHY did Ford make them removeable?
