Happened to me this morning. My entire SYNC interface froze up and would not respond. Even shutting off the truck and restarting did not help.

The only way to get it working again is to "reboot" it or soft reset it. (don't do a master reset or it will erase all your presets / phones / contacts, etc.)

Press the Volume / Power knob and the "next track" button at the same time for 5 seconds. The SYNC unit will power down and restart. That's it!

I did this a couple of times, but had to perform a master reset to clear up several issues. Surprisingly, it didn't wipe out radio presets, but i did loose everything else. All problems with freezing, WiFi connectivity and annoying popup messages were fixed.

Thanks, after much searching this is what I needed. Just curious, how did you know about soft reset?

I found it somewhere online. I can't remember where at this point. But I've had to use it at least once every few weeks when CarPlay freezes up on me (usually when opening Google Maps before I have a good signal)

My truck is starting to have regular sync issues with freezing screens. Calling Ford tech has not resolved my issues. They had me use the master reboot sequence described here. My sync did not automatically come back. After about 40 minutes of driving, sync 3 seemed to reboot itself and then function properly.

Have experienced the same problem and had to do the soft reset. Since doing that Ive noticed that every time I get in the truck and start it Sync needs to re download all my phone contacts. Not sure if the problems are related, but its beginning to piss me off!!!
