Really? So it crosses at a weird angle in the camera viewpoint on all rangers? The defroster thought makes sense I guess so that area is clear for the camera view
Yea, I think it's on all of the trucks.
There's a thread here where this was debated months ago, but I'll be darned if I can find it.

So while washing my truck today I noticed what looks like a piece if string in the front camera.. I could be wrong but it just doesn't seem like something that should be there
Assuming I'm right and it's not normal does anyone have info on how to remove the trim piece on the camera?

I got the same. Wondered if it was there on purpose or accident. Seems to match Defrost Wires. I figured as long as everything works, what do I care. I got the 80K MPP Bumper to Bumper warranty so if it pukes later, she's covered.

I just assumed it was an axis reference for the lane keeping assist.

Have you seen this yet
Ranger118.jpg

At the bottom of the windshield.
I noticed that small touch they added, just like Jeep does. I like it.

Has anyone noticed this at the bottom of the drivers side windshield....what does it mean? It is obviously patented by Ford.....

Not by Ford.

By Carlex.

Ford hasn't made their own glass for a while now.

It's an acoustic laminate glass. There is a vacuum gap between the glazings for sound absorption. I think it first showed up on the Lincoln MKS back in 2010 or 2011.

I think I saw that flying across the sky last night! It must be a stealth weapon of some kind.

I believe it is a heating element to keep the cover from getting iced over.

Either that or the cathode for the particle beam weapon .

If it is defrost, I don't think it defrosts very well, every time I drive in heavy snow, I get warnings on the dash that the camera is obstructed. Seems to ice up right where the camera is. It's pretty annoying cause driving in dangerous conditions is probably when I need it most.
