Hello,

Sorry in advance if this question has been answered somewhere on here, but I could not find it.

I just bought a pair of BFG KO2 tires in 265/70/17R LRE from Costco because they had a great deal on them and after scouring the internet it was about 50/50 on people who preferred load c to load e and vise versa. Does anybody have a preference or recommendation? Or better yet, is somebody running load e on their truck?. Thanks!

If using off road, driving lots of gravel roads, or towing/hauling heavy weight use lt tires. Lt are tougher and harder tires and thicker side walls, but weigh more. If hwy driving and only occasional off road, gravel, tow then use c. C are lighter and softer so they provide better mpg and grip on pavement.

Going for a set next week just as soon as the FP Fox 2.0 level is installed. Do you notice any difference in the added weight with the E LR? The C seem to be only 2 lbs heavier over stock, but the E are 9 lbs heavier according to the specs published.

Also having had many sets of ko2 and atx tires on several different types of vehicles, I have found the grabber atx to be a much better tire for the price. They do better in snow and on wet pavement and don't hold as much gravel in tread. I've found ko2s to be terrible in rain or wet pavement and not the best in heavy snow.

Nope, sorry I should have clarified, I am waiting on my FP Fox 2.0 kit to be installed and tires are still shipping. Im in the same boat as you! Just trying to figure out if I should cancel my orders and get the C or stick with E.

Harder, not as much hwy grip, worse mpg than c. But all ready explained why to get lt/e or c rated tires.

Hmmm if they would have had those at Costco I would have bought those or the Falken Wildpeaks. I had a set of Duratracs on my 03 Tahoe and they were great, but I felt like they wore fast. I have heard about the lack of traction in rain with KO2s which makes me nervous

Depends on how you're using truck. If hwy c, if off road gravel lots of hvy towing then e/lt. If you're using as a daily driver and gonna be on pavement mostly you'll be happier with the c rated by far. Hope this helps.

We travel the highways. I wanted a tire that would be good off road, in snow and on the highway. I went with the Pirelli Scorpions when the stock Hankooks dropped the ball in the snow. The truck rides rough enough as it is on the highway. I didn't want to add a E rated tire to the equation.

I have E rated KO2s and I specifically chose that for the additional sidewall durability for off-roading. I’ve already been in a couple spots where I’m pretty sure the rock pushing into the side wall would’ve punctured a C rated tire.

I mean they’ll slip on wet pavement if you’re not careful. Slight drop in power but that’s also because mine are 33s. Ride harshness is too subjective, I quite like the ride quality of my truck but I also have very nice suspension.

Just remember that LT KO2’s are twice the weight of the Hankooks also. I run LT KO2’s and could not be happier. Just remember to keep them at recommended PSI.

Update on my order. Costco had all of the KO2s on backorder and I didn't want to wait so I called a few tire shops and ended up with General Grabber ATX for $700 mounted and balanced! Also load C range.

I went from stock suspension with factory Load Range C 265/60R18, truck rode rough. Upgraded to Fox 2.5" custom valved DSC coilovers and piggy back shocks, truck rode great. Put E load 295/70R17 on, it went back to riding rough. I told the dealer who mounted and balanced my new wheels/tires to put 28psi in them, they put 32psi. I've been there done this with E load on 1500 or midsize and knew it was too high and of course they rode rough, dropped pressure back to 28psi and my plush ride is back. Appropriate air pressure is crucial if you run a higher load range, otherwise they not only wear the center but they ride awful.
