I found this friendly fellow sunning himself while biking in the Caterpillar Proving Grounds at the foot of the White Tank Mountains - when they’re as long as the width of the Caterpillar tracks, you give them all the room they want.

Yes, don't mess with the snakes! We've done a lot of hiking around here and luckily have never run into any snakes....yet. They love to sun themselves especially on these cooler days we have now. The only critter we have seen was a small tarantula at the Superstition Mountains several years ago.
