That's like 6 lanes wide! Looks more like a highway.Not my pictures, but pretty cool shots and story nevertheless.
The Northwest Angle in Minnesota, the northernmost part of the lower 48, has been cutoff since the only way to get there is through Canada, and the border has been closed for the last 10 months. This winter, in order for the resorts and businesses to stay in business, the residents decided to build/plow out an ice road 22-miles across Lake of The Woods so that people can come and go again.

I'd guess they do that to create a snow fence to keep drifts from filling in there road. Snow fences need to be set back far enough away so the drifts don't land where you want to drive. This is why you see permanent snow fence some states build, so far off the road.That's like 6 lanes wide! Looks more like a highway.
