Probably a simple question, but cannot find the answer...
I have a 2020 Ranger Lariat
If I am listening to the radio, then plug in my iphone to the USB port, and select any carplay feature, how do I go back to the normal home screen and the radio? The only thing I found to do was to turn the radio tuner knob one click, and then a small radio banner drops down from the top of the display window. When it drops down I tap the banner and it goes to the normal radio display. Shouldn't there be a button to go from car play back to the normal display??

Am I missing something?

press the Ford Sync icon on the carplay screen, it should bring you home. You can also customize the icon layout in carplay settings on your phone

I've had my Ranger for almost a year now and have only used CarPlay a handful of times, today being one of them. I didn't know you could customize the layout,I'll have to mess with that this weekend.

One thing I don't like about the 2 front USB ports is if you just want to charge your phone you need unlock your phone and it needs to be in CarPlay for it to charge which I think is dumb. Now the rear usb will just charge your phone but the front doesn't, at least on my iPhone it doesn't.

That’s odd, I can just charge my iPhone using either front USB port, I do it daily. I don’t use CarPlay (I have before but it isn’t my thing).

Every once in awhile I may need to unlock the phone to let it charge but that’s a hit/miss thing. Usually if I was just recently using the phone I don’t even need to unlock it.

I was just using my phone when we were at the hotel, got in the truck and plugged it in and it wouldn't charge. I even tried my girlfriends cable and still nothing. Plugged it into the rear usb and it charged without unlocking it.

I very rarely use the usb ports as I'm anal about my phone being charged so it's rarely low and like you I just don't care for CarPlay. Most of my daily commutes are short trips but we were coming home from vacation yesterday and I decided to use it. Maybe it was a miss day for mine or it's just possessed!

There is an option in the Sync settings to turn off CarPlay. Then your iPhone should charge from the front USB ports without going into CarPlay.

Thanks! I'll have to try that next time but you'd think it would automatically charge just plugging it in.
