I use the one below.,like Bret said don't get one with the photo sensor. Some have said they don't like the light shining but it's low LED but if it bothers you just black it out.

The auto start in our rangers cant be turned off permanently except by using a chip, LED light or FORscan correct?
I have been trying to turn mine off on the display but it resets every time I restart the truck. Even reset the Mykey I made to limit my top speed.

I'm sure this has been discussed to death. I did a search but my skills must be terrible as i didn't find the detailed info I was looking for.
There's also this - https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/ford/products/2019-ford-ranger-autostop-eliminator

Lots of people on the forum use them. Appears to be a fairly simple install. $84.99

Being cheap I'm using an LED nightlight that we had laying around. It's working great so far.

I used ForScan to disable my Auto S/S but might reactivate it now and just buy a LED Light. It'd be convenient to have one back there anyway if you can find one that's not super bright.

You can always just spray it black if it's to bright. I thought about ForScan but I didn't want to mess with it and this was a cheap option. With my luck I'd have all sorts of other stuff turning off that shouldn't. lol

I found that same one at a Target store. I plugged the second one in a garage outlet next to my Ranger. My Ranger is also afraid of the dark.

I tried that and it didn't work. Besides being afraid of the dark mine has separation issues! So I have to leave the overhead LED lights on or he acts up.

Maybe the XL is different, but I don't have a three prong outlet in the back of mine that I know of. The back of the console just has another cigarette lighter style 12v plug. Am I missing something?

You Lariat guys are fancy. Us XL guys don't have any of that, lol. Looks like I'm stuck just pushing the off button for the ASS every time I turn on the truck.

I firmly believe the neurotic behavior of some of our Rangers originated from the mixing yard prior to transport. They were exposed to Colorados, Canyons and other unsavory riff raff.
