How does this movable step work when full of mud/snow and/or dirt? Just seems like it's in the direct path of anything kicked up from the rear tire.

Have a neighbor with a F-150 equipped with the factory side step (in front of the rear wheel). It fills with kicked up crap and In the winter he can't get it to pop out, and once out can't get it to latch when trying to reseat . He's also had it pop out while driving after thinking it was latched - it wasn't.

I usually squat down a little and hop to the ground. I have also sat down on the tailgate and swing my legs down. I'm social security age :frown: but still manage to navigate in/out of the bed okay.
LOL! I thought I deleted that question. When I thought it through, it was obvious that getting down wasn't an issue. Thanks for not being sarcastic in your response none the less1

It's a plug... I have no doubt you're up to the task. :like:

Me yes. But I will admit some of those plugs are a real pain. Good thing it's a rare event for me to remove a tailgate.

the easy low tech solution i use is keep a milk crate in the bed but that step looks sweet

I was looking at getting one of these. They are only $30. and can be left in the receiver if needed, or possibly stored in the truck somewhere. Of course it would only be useful if the tailgate is closed.

YOU JUST BOUGHT A NEW TRUCK AND YOUR WORRIED ABOUT 300 BIG ONES? DAMN YOU SOUND LIKE A CHEVY OWNER
My ranger fights for funds with my guitar/gun collection an my tendency to dump money out the @$$ into my Harley. One of my riding friends just threw a 113 ci kit an full blown ported heads on his so the ante has been upped.

I don't blame you,you have some expensive hobbies there. Mine are just my Ranger and my gun collection and that's enough for me. I don't think my wallet could take anymore. lol Come join us in the gun discussion section here sometime.

As someone else mentioned, other hobbies and the fact I bought my truck outright (yay no payments!) makes a $300 purchase kind of painful.
My other expensive hobbies:
-Supercharged 2014 Mustang GT
-Grilling/cooking - I have six grills/smokers and I'm adding a 7th here soon!
-Cabin at the lake
-Boat - Bust Out Another Thousand
-Guns!

Plus I have some priority modifications for the Ranger that come in front of a step for the bed.
