I would gladly sacrifice some departure angle to get the step back.Fab Fours is the only company I know if that makes an aftermarket bumper for the Colorado that has the steps built in. That would be perfect for the Ranger. Regarding the lack of step for the ZR2, the reason it was removed was to improve departure angle.
I looked at several ZR2s.
The bed on them is even higher than ours, close if not the same as my 4x4 F250 Superduty with 34" tires was.
