What are people paying to have the dealer install this unit?

I already have my part. Checked with a dealer here in California and they want 3 hours at $175 an hour. $525 USD.

First quoted me 2 hours, then when I said I was going to use the dealerships 20% Off coupon he said 3 hours!

The more feedback the better, I will try to leverage my dealer based on the prices you folks get!

Also wonder how long the installation should take a competent dealer.

Having dealer install one tomorrow. Went there right after purchase of truck and ordered part, nailed down a labor price of 2 hrs at 160 per. Advisor signed a receipt acknowledging labor time.
When I went back to setup day to install, same guy tried to weasel his way out of the price saying he never installed one before and said it would be 3-4 hrs. Sorry but should not have quoted me price.
Well see how it goes.
Thanks Rob

A flat out tow pro elite? Or the official ford redarc/lumen frankenstein unit with the CHMSL interface? Maybe 30 minutes to install the basic redarc. The ford kit is going to take the dealer 2-3 hours easy especially if they haven't done one.

Just took truck in to dealer and different service advisor quoted 1hr. Asked him if he had ever had one installed there before and said " yes, just a matter of hooking up the 4 control wires and programming"
Had to explain to him what was involved and he said it will take more than 1hr.
Should be ready this afternoon and will let you know how it went.
Thanks Rob

That is a damn good price on VKB3Z-2C006-A installed.

Did you confirm that they are using the above PN?

Because if not they're going to charge you 450$...
for a 200$TBC
and $250 for labor which would take a skilled tech maybe 30 minutes to put in
all to have a trailer brake controller that ford is going to tell you you should've never installed if you ever come to them with an issue

yup, installed price included oem controller. just putting it on here what they quoted.
my xl does not have the 4 controller wires up front, so im going with a prodigy rf mounted on my camper and the 7 pin harness replacement in the back to get the 12v.
without the 4 wires i'm sure i would have gotten a call about additional labor.
this seems to be the easiest solution for my situation.

What would that be? Someone with that opinion of what i've stated in these forums must be running a non approved setup and it "w0rkz ju$t f1nE!!!"
...okay so i'm "fud" because your setup hasn't killed anyone?

How about this isn't the first time you've gone out your way to knock me on this forum for whatever reason.

"you are so cool VAMIKE when I grow up i want to be just like u!!"
-nobody ever

Nobody has claimed that third party brake controllers work with AEB. That's a different thing than saying Ford will challenge the brake controller "for any issue". Grow up.

The prodigy rf is compatible with the aeb. It bypasses the trailer brake wiring all together. It pulls it's braking signals from the brake lights at the trailer plug not the brake switch at the pedal. Fords kit just pulls that same signal from the nearest source, i.e. the 3rd brake light. It is a limited solution though, as it is mounted on the trailer itself.

Do you have that in writing from prodigy?
