They just moved my appointment to Monday for drop off. I am planning to ask them to send the oil out for analysis and offer to pay for it. This way they can’t say I sent some random oil to have it checked.

Not sure why they would argue it too much here. Told them oil issue and said I’d test it. Pretty sure they smell gasoline and noted it. If I come back and it’s over Normal levels I’m going to ask them to get involved nice. Might be at their speed but I know the owner of the ford near here. Pretty sure he’ll try something if issue brought up with documentation.

I do not get it if there is gas in the oil it should not matter what the level is. Gas at those levels where you smell it should be fixed. It is a problem and a dealer should be trying to fix it under warranty. I just do not get why dealers are not trying to fix the problem..

Without measuring it they claim it’s normal blow by. I agree with everyone here it seems like it could be faulty fuel infectors it’s above abnormal levels. However it seems most dealers don’t want to do the work beyond what’s obvious. The time to diagnose things doesn’t pay the bills. It’s fix obvious and move to next thing.

Sent mine to Ford today. I was told that there's a baffle that retains the gas smell if you check it right after you drive. I was told I had to wait 15 mins and then check it. They said didn't smell anything out of the norm and the oil levels are normal.

My truck just turned over 1000 miles so I thought I'd check it after seeing this thread.

May 3, 2019 engine build date.

Checked 2 hours after driving.

Oil level is overfull and smells of fuel.

I will be scheduling with my dealer to do an oil/filter change and document/monitor the levels.

I hope this doesn't turn into a big issue because I really like this truck.

Wow, that smells like bullsh:t to me!
Fuel should not be in the crankcase, especially on a new, modern engine.
The owner's manual does say to check oil levels fifteen minutes after shutting off engine.
I check oil level first thing in the morning after vehicle has sat overnight and I still smell fuel. Oil level is higher than full mark now. I'm photographing levels and odometer readings to document. I have also started a case with Ford Customer Relations.

Smell the same thing. Let me know how it goes. Definitely interested.

The Ranger is the 3rd FI vehicle I've owned since 2016. Started with a F150, the wife has an accord 2.0T and now I've traded the full size truck for the Ranger. All 3 of these FI engines had a smell of gas in the oil and all three of their respective message boards are littered with this discussion. Not saying it hasn't happened, but I've not read much in the way of causing undue problems. It is a normal by-product of this technology IMO that we may or may not be used to. Now the increased oil level, yeah, that is concerning.

I checked the ranger tonight when I got home (after it had sat all day without running), sure enough the oil level was just covering the open circle above the hash marks on the dipstick. Quickly read the owners manual and it does say to let the engine cool down for 10 minutes and check on a level surface. Let it run for 10 mins and parked on a level surface, shut off and let it cool for 10 mins for the oil to settle. After checking "by the manual's instructions" the level was still a little high, but not over the hole in the dipstick. I have 4000 miles on the truck now and honestly have not been watching the oil level to the point I can confidently say it is increasing.

Am I concerned the truck is going to self-destruct? Absolutely not. Will I keep an eye on it and make sure I bring it up to the service adviser when it goes in for it's first oil change? Yep. Got a long time left on the Powertrain Warranty and as long as I keep monitoring and bringing it up to the service it will work itself out one way or another. Either it is a non issue or I'll trade at a later date.

Sorry if this rubs anyone the wrong way, but there is just too much other stuff to worry in my life right now.

Called that number and talked with a representative. A technician at Ford Motor Company is calling me back. Feels like it’s worth calling. If enough people do it could expedite and resolution. Maybe. Just seems wrong to smell my oil and literally think it smells like gasoline. Let others smell it and they’re shocked It’s not gasoline. Lol. Then when oil level is above normal. Not cool

I wish it was a non issue. But I can't afford to trade my truck whenever I want. I bought this truck to last me for a while. And to know that I spent as much as I did on this truck and I have this problem. It upsets me.

I’m the same way. I’d rather prevent a big issue long term and own this truck then neglect an issue. Will pursue a resolution even if slow.

Called the Ford complaint department. Hopefully they will help me get the ball rolling.
