Pulled my dipstick this afternoon. No oil smell at all. All I smell is fuel. Even pulled the dipstick later and asked someone what they smelled and the reply was gas, didn’t mention to her why I wanted her to smell it.

Called 2 dealerships in my area to get it in. One told me they don’t have loaners at all but would give me a ride home, told them it was unacceptable to expect me to hoof it when I bought a new vehicle that is under warranty. The second dealership told me I need to bring it in ASAP but they have a 2 week wait on a loaner but would give me a ride home. When I asked if they would give me a 35 mile ride home he said no.

I got on the phone with customer care and was told they would call the dealership that I made the appointment with and let them know that if they don’t have a loaner they will have to rent me a vehicle. She is supposed to get back to me in 48 hours. Truck is scheduled to go in on Friday.

For everyone experiencing the issue, I highly recommend getting an oil analysis done, it's only like $30, and helps create solid documentation of the issue. I'm waiting on the results from my second analysis, should have them any day now. Fuel has a very strong smell, so even a small amount can reek. And a little fuel dilution is generally going to happen with a DI turbocharged engine no matter what. Knowing the actual extent of the dilution will really help in winning this battle with Ford. Anything more than 2% within the oil change timeline is definitely excessive. In my case it was well over 5% in just 1800 miles. I hope we can get this resolved! Keep posting updates!

Hi Wade; I have never had/done an oil analysis? Is this something you can do "locally" all around the country? Or is there a specific place to send a sample of your oil? And for the sake of consistency and/or potential "battle" with Ford, does it matter who/where the analysis is done? Also, how do you suggest to collect it?
Thanks in advance!

Blackstone is a popular choice (see their website here). You can request a free sample collection kit, follow their instructions, and send the sample back to them. They charge $28 for the basic test, which includes fuel dilution. An extra $10 gets you TBN analysis, which is useful information about how the oil is holding up, but not necessary if you're just worried about fuel in your oil.

Amsoil has some third party service do oil analysis, and that's what I've been using, but as someone else suggested, Blackstone is very popular and good, and apparently a few bucks cheaper too. They'll mail you a kit that you fill out and mail back to them.

Thanks Wade! I was looking at the Blackstone program and it seems like they've got it down pretty good. They make it easy, which helps a noob like me! :like:

I'll be changing my oil sooner than I wanted as it does smell of fuel. I will be following this thread and I'll post the analysis when I get it. (again; July 2019 build)

Oil leak fixed but oil wasn’t replaced lol. Reused gassy oil. Think I need to get a test as well. Do we all need to contact ford and report this issue. Maybe If enough of us complain to corporate something gets done? I’m in for any action. Would be nice to know where to call and who to talk to.

I have similar march build date from Clevaland. I think I have fuel in my oil too. And the dip stick level seems way too high.

From this thread it sounds like people are having issues getting the Ford Service to recognize this as an issue? What do I need to know before I go in there?

I'd say they aren't likely to take it seriously unless they measure the change themselves. Mine had me come back after 500 miles, which I did, but they never actually measured where the dipstick was to begin with. So it was pretty useless and even though it was above the full mark after the 500 miles (it was a little less than halfway between the low and high marks when I brought it to them initially after I had changed the oil) they claimed that the oil level was "still within the normal parameters". So my advice is to stand there with them and make sure they actually record the starting oil level, and take a picture yourself there at the dealership with the service advisor or technician as witness. That way they can't just blow it off like they did mine.
