i got those experiences on the farm during hay season, with a woefully undersized tractor and a gargantuan hay wagon loaded 3 or 4 levels higher than it should.
those were the days.

Wow, I'm reading a post by Matthew about renting a BobCat, and a dang ad pops up form a heavy equipment rental company (DOZR Equipment rental). These damn computer programs are on the ball stalking us at every move.

Did you say bobcat? Yard was full of them back in the day and didn't have to tow them.

We had one up a tree in our back yard. All the deer had chased him up the tree and were gathered around the base, just waiting to stomp him if he dropped out of the tree.

When we came out to get some pictures, some of the deer moved on farther away and he took his chance and dropped out and took off high tailing it.

as a 13 year old, barely with any hair on my chest at that time....i grew into a man in a hell of a hurry.

no one died, was all good.
Does this count as a "banana with chest hair" ???

LOL, I was on the same line, but you beat me to it.

A Bobcat is only 20-30 lbs, why the hell would you need a trailer?

On a serious note, even a small skid steer is over 6,000 lbs, with many over 7,000 not including a trailer.

We used a variation of that tractor for a snow plow in winter(plus standard summer cutting, and stuff), 3 brakes, 1 clutch, 1 gas pedal, 1 gas level, plus something like 6 different hyrdualic levers. If you want fun try doing a three point turn on ice, on a hill in one of those. sliding sideways is a skill.

My son in law wanted to rent a back hoe. They wouldnt let him use his F 150.
On the rental site it lists 3/4 ton truck with a double axel trailer for self haul. Founds out its only $118 for delivery.

Well I guess I won't bother you with the story about the minefield.
Not trying to hijack the OP, had the chance to visit the worlds most dangerous golf course ;)!

Well as long as you are within your trucks limits and have trailer brakes, you can tow anything you want really. I have towed small backhoe equipment from home depot. 7k lbs. With surge brakes. Not as often as before, but easy tow for the ranger. Not like a tt with all the sails catching air

Many/most Canadian equipment rentals won't allow anything more than 5,000 lbs out on your truck/trailer unless it's CVOR (Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration). I can pick up a stand on Skid Steer on my appropriately rated trailer with my personal vehicle, but not a 6,000 lb skid steer, even if I arrive with a personal F550 & 10,000 lb trailer.

Most rental companies I've used don't offer trailers with the equipment, bring your own, or they deliver.

Home Depot is one exception to that rule, that I believe everything they rent comes on a trailer or optional trailer. I don't know what their requirements are for vehicles doing the towing, but they do have skid steer in the lot on trailers for rent which at a quick glance would most likely be over 7,500 lbs combined.

I have a Home Depot run in the near future, If I remember and have time, I'm going to look into it.

But... can you tow a ranger with a bobcat?
This Bobcat could tow a Ranger up the side of a mountain, with the Ranger in 4 low and pulling the opposite direction.

These Bobcats, not so much. ;)
