I got in my truck yesterday and after starting it I got these warnings, including the dreaded wrench:
1718460503835-x5.webp

I will be contacting the dealership on Monday but wondered if any of you much smarter than me people had any input.

Could this be a minor issue or something more concerning? Let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance, Paul

Paul, if you have one close by take it over to Autozone or any parts place. They should be able to hook up their scan device and see if there are any codes and hopefully give you an idea of what's going on.

Thanks Dave, that's a good idea.

Did you check under the hood for any chewed wiring?
Good suggestion Steve. I just looked the engine compartment over and didn't see anything unusual.

I'm gonna go to AutoZone like Dave suggested and see if they find and codes.

FYI - had it scanned and no codes were detected. Next step - the dealership.

These all tie to the ABS Module, not fully powering up
It gets power from 3ea fuses

Power is split up as to when the fuses get power at the (Run/Start) Relay

Fuses 69 & 82 are powered before the Run/Start Relay - Energizes (closes)
and Fuse 25 only powers after the relay Energizes (is closed)

So, either a sticking relay or power issue to the ABS Module

Dis they go away after a key cycle?
If no, Check these fuses in the BJB
Fuse 25 - Located on Top

Fuse 69 & 82 - Located on the Bottom side of the BJB, you have to remove the connectors and pull the fuse box to get access to the bottom fuses

Could be a wheel speed sensor failure. Others have had this problem with similar warnings on the instrument panel. It should show up with a DTC code. Maybe they only scanned for engine codes at the auto store.

See this thread: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/wheel-speed-sensor-replacement.21561/
I thought that at first, but with no codes, leads me to believe it's a power issue, which will show as (COM) error codes (communication loss)

Not all scan tools will show those types of codes, so yes it depends on what level of scanner they used and are the faults still active (is another factor) as the scanner has to have the ability to see historical codes as well.

I just had a rat chew one of my back seat belt wires, I know he is in there he jumped at me LOL
little bastard was sitting in my seat ...
better do something before losing more wiring! ford seems to be using a Soy based wire insulation, I am sure they sell a lot of parts!
