I kinda like it. Maybe not on a newer/newish truck, but spmethiats been around the block a few times.

I especially like the detailed fastener work done there. Cut tabs from bed side and then bent them out and put a fastener on each tab! Man that’s definitely staying on there no matter how much mud you throw at it! ?

I am guessing those are those metal can lids with the tabs you bend.?‍♂

That's friggin hilarious! If I had a beater mudder truck, I do that before using swimming pool or garden trim for guards.
There’s a crazy 4WD “camp” just outside Wigham on Hwy 86 with a mud bog and some wild trucks in the yard. My guess is that upon further inspection, more than a couple of them are sporting this setup. :D

The sensible side says no. But the backwoods practical side says absolutely lol. For off-road it makes sense. If you rub a rock or tree no damage and it still looks the same. Plus it’s always cool making stuff.
