Windshield Wiper Fluid?

Probably a silly question, but does it matter what I use?

I know in my previous VW certain fluids would cause issues with the sensor and it had to be a certain spec. Does it matter with the Ranger?

As a sidenote anyone have a preference?

The owner's manual would tell you if there was something special needed... I couldn't imagine there would be something special needed here. The only time I think it *might* matter is with auto wipers but, even then, that doesn't control fluid.

I use the cheap fluid from AutoZone. Of course I don't live where it often freezes and there is never slush on the road.

Wipers don’t need fluid. Maybe the washer. Check the owners manual.

VWs have an issue if you by RainX treated washer fluid. It coats the sensor in the tank and trips the low fluid level light regardless of the level. Unfortunately it was not listed in the manual .. VW was not aware it would happen.

Go with Penzoil Platinum. It's the best.

I run the -20 stuff year round. I don't use it enough to go through a entire tank. Sure beats trying to empty the reservoir in the fall.

I use RAIN X all season (it's orange colored) cleans well and adds some rain x to windshield when used. If you take your vehicles to get an oil change, top it off 1st or else they will use watered down blue stuff.

I have used this or the RainX Green for years. Works great and most of the time I don't have to turn the wipers on at freeway speeds cause the water beads up and clears on its own.

Yeah Rainex is great stuff. Used it on my Areostar van, with that huge sloped windshield you could drive at highway speed in a driving rain without you wipers on. The water blew of faster than it fell.

I use synthetic fluid in both the washer fluid and tailgate damper reservoir, it’s better for high rpm operation.
