So today Colorado decided to have a very windy day. It was so windy that many things happend including power outages all over and things falling apart. Even semi try ks getting tired and laying on thier side for a nap!!!

Well during my wonderfull shift at work today right after lunch a fancy rollup tonneau cover decide to comeapart on a pickup truck right next to my service van and then hit the drivers mirror today...... Should I mention that this happened right after I got in the van and shut the door?!?!?!?!?! Talk about luck. I wasnt familiar with the brand but I'm suspecting the cover could have been "cheap". Could it happen with any cover? Very possible but who knows if it was open even just a little bit?

My point being that for anyone getting tonneau covers are probably best to spend the money on a good name brand. Unfortunately as the saying goes you get what you pay for.

Looks like an install fail.

I see no clamps at the rear of what is left of the rails.

Very possible. Its also possible that the wind could have picked it up and the clamps could have fell into the bed. I didnt look into it much.

My gf was just telling me parts of CO had 100 mph winds today. Crazy weather going on now as we're colder here (56) then it is back in Chicago where it was in the 60's.

Lol as much as you might hope I was next door at Torchy's Tacos!!!
Interestingly, the tri-fold soft tonneau I just installed has several warnings about removing it before being towed in reverse. I imagine if you got a good enough gust from behind it would probably be a similar result. We were getting gusts well into the 80 mph range here yesterday.

Makes me think of how those roof flaps on the NASCARs work.

I had a soft tri-fold on my F-150 that got ripped off in the derecho a few years back. I guess the right wind in the right direction and possibly the right sort of vacuum effect can do them in.
