I have a 2021 Crew Cab Ranger. I am looking for a bed rack that works well with factory hard tri-fold tonneau - one that I can use with bike racks, kayaks, etc... and still be able to open the tri-fold. I guess that would mean the support are taller and mostly vertical.

Alternatively, are there options that would involve mounting the crossbars to the hard tonneau itself?

Please send pictures and links if you have done anything similar.

May have figured something out by now, but figured I'd throw in my 2 cents in case you're still looking.

There are a couple options that do what you're looking for (ADARAC is one that comes to mind), but in my experience, you'd be much better off selling your tonneau are replacing it with something more rack friendly to get a better look, function and load support.
I know a lot of people that have fit racks with tri-fold covers only to regret it later and end up spending more $$$ to change things up again.

I had a Truxedo Pro X15 rollup cover for years that worked great with my rack before I moved to a soft top cover with rack.
There are also a ton of tonneau options available now with T-slots integrated into the rails specifically for mounting bed racks.
Covers that work with bed racks range from $500CAD up to some pretty wild prices like $4k.

I don't think you'll find anything that will work just by mounting to the tonneau cover panels - the panels aren't rated for much weight and specifically, the latches won't stand up to the lifting force generated by bumps, etc with a load on the rack.

Feel free to message if I can help at all - I'm pretty deep in the truck/overland industry here in Ontario.

I’m in the exact same boat- thanks for the detailed reply @therangeradventure
I’m stuck between saving up for a while to drop a few grand on a new tonneau and the truxedo system vs a few hundred for the ADARAC. I’m leaning toward Adarac since I don’t do any overlanding and the only reason I want them is to haul my kayaks/canoe while leaving the bed open for camping gear. They look easyish to mount and unmount using the rail since I’d only use a few times a month.
