@OFC Ranger I’ve seen it done like that. But to hide the rough edge of the cut they typically dado in a 1/4” ledge top and bottom slightly wider than the thickness of the door to form a ledge. So if you have a 1 3/4” door cut a piece of wood 2” x 3/8” x length of door. Dado along the length a 1 3/4” half the 3/8 leaving 1/8 overhang along the door. Leaves a nice clean edge. Hope that makes sense.

I think Murphy has a special relationship with lumber.

Those few times you go to move large raw lumber and don't wear gloves, you will get that that splinter. I ain't talking about no sissy fru fru hair sized splinter. I mean that pen tipped diameter 1" sonvabitch still poking halfway out kind of splinter.

Re-enforces the thought I'd rather get shot than stabbed any day. No lie, I'm pulling man-baby status when this happens.

I keep a pair of tweezers and bandaids in the shop.

Another pro damper reason. Over time your skin will become rubbery and splinters bounce right off.

In all seriousness….so true! I always bring gloves now or borrow a pair a few aisles over.

Almost done with my daughters new wall folding desk. I just need to attach a small back wall to hide the gap. Night stands are next. Finished new paint yesterday.

And for a surprise ol' dad did some "upgrades" to the room. (not done, need 1 more strip to go up and around the back of the TV!

Just found this thread and I do some woodworking. Many great projects by posters. I am in the process of building all the furniture in my home from wood I harvested from my backyard. Have a small sawmill and an unlimited supply of lumber from it. Many projects on my youtube channel. Lately I have been having lots of fun with quick projects using the low cost laser engravers. Here is a simple gift project video using one of my wife's favorite hand written recipe.

They sure are fun to play with and great for gift making.

Great job! I've been wanting a laser for wood working. I too made my furniture, end tables/ night stands, entertainment center, tables, headboards. Next project is a display case.

Thanks. The little blue diodes are an affordable way to get started. Don't have the capabilities of a big C02 but have a long life with very little maintenance and low cost. Great for making xmas gifts from wood, leather, and cork. I am finally getting near the end of my honeydo list.

Been a while since an update as we’ve been roughing in a new workshop for Mrs. Geezer:

However, finally got the basic face frame together today. Two wide drawers on top, two stacks of 3 drawers left and right, and a pull out tray with cabinet doors in the middle….
