What's actually under the rear seat?

I don't have my truck yet so this answer could be obvious in person.

It seems to me that there's a lot of storage space left on the table under the SuperCrew rear seat. Yes there's that little cubby but what fills the rest of the space? Are there other functional bits under there that can't be moved? What are the chances of a mod to open some of the space up?

I think it's the gas tank on one side, and IDK what it is on the other side, but I suspect there is something there.

Probably a compromise for when they tucked all the under truck stuff up in the frame. That is my guess.

The driver's side bin is smaller because the fuel tank is there. You can crawl under your truck and confirm that. Which means the body sheet metal is like that as well. The tunnel is for the transmission/transfer case. You might be able to get a bit of space (I don't know for a fact that is) on the passenger side, but I suspect Ford made it as large as they could.

I was curious to see what it looked like under the plastic bin. There really isn't any extra space in there to capture...

That bin is quite a bit larger than the one in the SuperCab.
