Ditto except I have no idea what the calls are about. If your number is not listed in my contacts, I don't answer it, I let it ring till it stops.

I read that even declining the call shows "activity" and the calls will persist. I then google the number, nothing comes up, I block the number.

I looked not too long ago, and I probably have over 1000 numbers blocked in my phone
🤨 So that's why my damper salesman can never get through to you:question:🤬

Gee, I'm only up to 192 blocked callers. That is true that even hanging up without answering can signal that your number is active; let 'er ring, or if in public, silence the phone. Scammers & telemarketers rarely leave a voicemail. The VA uses robot call appointment reminders, but they always leave a voice mail.

For texts, I use an app called Dont (no apostrophe)Text. the premium version is only $4.99 a year and the dozen or more daily political texts stopped immediately!
Thanks!! I'm going to have to try this app. Every election year (even midterms) I get bombarded with these darn political text. It started about 5 years ago and they're relentless and even blocking them doesn't help because they just change their numbers. I don't pay for apps but this one will be well worth it.

Edit: Is this the right one?

If I let it ring it goes to voice-mail but they never leave a message. So instead of blocking as they call I have started to answer them but hang up immediately. That way it don't go to voice-mail & I don't have to bother with going thru voice-mail & deleting a message that says nothing. Then I go to recent calls & block them. It seems to have slowed them down.

One of the guys I used to work with would answer every call. Then he'd talk to them to keep them on the line, sometimes you could tell he was trying to change the subject, or turn the conversation toward them. It would depend on his mood as to how the conversation would go. It was fun just to listen to his side of the conversation. He was a master.

Annie did that once to a telemarketer (I think it was a Microsoft scam) that was trying to scam her out of money. I heard her telling him "you should be ashamed of yourself, I don't even have Microsoft and what if someone did this to your mom, or your sister etc...". By the end he was apologizing to her. lol

Yep. The Premium version does the setup automatically. I started out with the free manual setup and still some got some thru, even though I had spam and unknown numbers set to go into their own folders. Blocking the phone number as @veedubtuner and I have done isn't always effective because of SMS Spoofing. In fact, you can download your own app to set it up!

Thanks I just downloaded it and added a bunch of keywords to block. I'll see how the free version does and will add the pay version if needed. I have to at least try the free one first because, well you know....🇵🇱

They leave messages. That's the only reason I know what they are about. My phone transcribes voicemail to text, automatically. I have to delete them, once left. There is a special place in hell for spam calls.

I got this txt not too long ago and I feel it was some dude that was interested in some female and she gave him a wrong number to get rid of him. I just ignored the first couple txt, thinking he would get the hint, but he wouldn't stop

"why are you not replying, are you ok", "you must be busy, hope you're having a good day" type of txt. If she gave him a wrong number I could see why she did it. Finally I was like dude, she's not answering cause this is not Julie dipsh*t. Then I blocked the number

You had the perfect chance to mess with him. You should've said "oh honey I really miss you and would like to meet up again. Then send him an address to a local gay bar. 😂

I play along with them then I curse them out in their own language….
