I have the folding key fob. which battery, the fob or truck ?
so far no issues with the truck & the fob battery was replaced earlier this year.............

The keyless fob prevents you from locking it in the cab because it’s often sitting in the console or cup holder and you don’t have to touch it to turn off the truck. It is constantly emitting a signal to permit push button start so it was simple enough to put that feature in place.

The keyed fob doesn’t work that way. At least mine doesn’t.

Drove it to the Ford dealership to have the rear drive shaft replaced to eliminate the loudly complaining center support bearing. At a little over 148,000 miles, I can’t complain too much. Old shaft is going home with me.

Oh. Since you said, "I didn't think you could do that", I thought you were implying you had a push start. There isn't anything in the folding key fob that's communicating with the truck to tell it if the key is inside or not.

Putting the spare key in the truck is a horrible idea! What if you lock your main key in your truck?

You should always put your spare in your dresser or nightstand and NEVER touch it. You only use it in case you lock your main key in the truck. Then you can unlock your truck and put the key back.

I locked my truck after taking off my sweatshirt, hiding my key fob that was laying on the seat, closed the door. could not open the door I thought that wasnt possible ??? had to get the extra fob so I could run my errand......

Why don't you just unlock your truck using the Ford app? I use the app all the time.
