What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

drove out to the panhandle area and enjoyed the nothing and great weather. gave the ranger a good work out lol. this is twin mountains, former Comanche Indian settlement way back. legend / folklore says Coronado camped out in the area for a while. some of the stories say he left gold some place on the hills. i call shenanigans on that. but fun to see either way. the area is pretty flat, red dirt, brushy, so it makes the mountains (big hills) seem really dramatic lol. oh and random corner post and small cactus lol

Glad you're OK and didn't end up like Sonny Bono ?

I've had a couple shoulder issues and you may need to get an MRI to be sure you didn't tear something.

Make sure you keep moving things as much as you can so you keep your range of motion.

I ended up with a frozen shoulder, which required surgery, on the right side, and have a tear in the left that I'm still working through.

And YES, both times, it hurt like hell and took a long time to heal. The age hasn't helped either.

Remember, heat and or ice packs are your friend. ? A recliner to kick back in and or sleep in is a plus as well. ?

Good luck and try to push through the pain as much as you can.

Stopped at Harbor Freight to pick up a tension rod and a cargo net. The Yeti doesn't move as it is, especially when loaded with groceries or cold ones, but I like to have something to secure stuff thrown in the bed without having it be tossed around. I have the bed extender but I can only fit so much when it's layed back for easy access. I'll see how long this rod lasts but for $17.99 USD I couldn't complain. It does what I need in a pinch. Might look into the builtright mole panels for the sides to secure the tension rod and tools.

I had a cargo net I bought off Amazon for the bed. I used it on our ~2 week road trip out and by the time we arrived it was done. Once I released the elastics back and stretched them again, they wouldn't go back to their original stretchiness... ?

I bought it off Amazon, for the 15 or so bucks it was OK for a 1 time use product, I guess. ?

Needless to say, I only use ratchet straps now. ?

As you likely know, the best fall arrest systems have shock absorber lanyards. Unfortunately, most shock absorbers kick in after 6 ft or so, then decelerate for another 6 ft and the 5-6 ft user should stop with a 3 ft safety margin - good for 19-20 ft heights with the lanyard fastened overhead of the user.

For my second floor use case, I’d bounce before the system worked as it should. ? ?

I use a 6 ft tree saver strap from my Ranger’s recovery gear as my safety lanyard - the anchors are up to the task and I’ve placed one 4 ft from the edge of the deck - allows me to work close to the edge with confidence - and two anchors mounted to support columns about 11 ft off the ground for working on ladders. I tested it by stepping down the ladder until the tether was taking my full weight, stepped off the ladder, swung for a bit while a foot off the ground, and bounced around like a madman. Everything worked as it should - the boys were happy it was a climbing harness and not a fall arrest rig - one is built for comfort - the other to satisfy minimum OSHA requirements.

A static lanyard will stop abruptly (not the best) and do some neck and back damage but I would fall a very limited distance before being stopped. Besides, all the clamouring and grabbing at whatever I could get my hands on would likely slow me down a bit, no? . ? ? ?

NO ! At least it didn't for me. That made me a flash back to a time when a ladder slipped out from under me. (I will spare the embarrassing details) When I was clamoring and grabbing, I over reached a cross brace rod by a few inches. Caught it with my wrist first and it took off a large amount of skin as it scraped by. Good news I was able to grab the rod when my hand got to it, but the wrist hurt like hell for a long time.

Took the Ranger to MERUS Adventure park near Amarillo this weekend and stayed in one of the Cabins. Highly recommend for off pavement play time. My Ranger is stock height with 32" Toyos and handled the steep climb in and out of the canyon like a mountain goat. We drove most the Green (Beginner) trails without difficulty, attempted four Blue (Intermediate) trails, completing two. My rig needed more clearance for the rockier sections and we were too far from home to push the limits. All in all, good time.

When I came out this lady had parked next to me. It's a 1977 f150 ranger. She has owned it from New. It has the same engine and trans only basic maintenance on it.

Rusted but brought back memories of my scout masters 1978 f150 truck we drove to summer camps.

I had a 2003 Ranger I bought new and still owned 10 yrs ago back in the day when I met my wife. When I met my wife, I also owned a 1968 F100 Ranger (short bed) that I had tricked out like a period hot-rod. Damn I loved that thing. It's on my wife's finger now, along with several firearms. No regrets though.

I had a 2003 Ranger I bought new and still owned 10 yrs ago back in the day when I met my wife. When I met my wife, I also owned a 1968 F100 Ranger (short bed) that I had tricked out like a period hot-rod. Damn I loved that thing. It's on my wife's finger now, along with several firearms. No regrets though.

My daddy once owned a '69 Ranger. I learned to drive it in a hayfield ( picking up hay). Yet another one of the vehicles we had "back in the day" that I wish I had now.

I learned to drive in a 1987 F150, 4 speed manual. . . that thing was essentially a 3 speed. lol 1st gear was to about 10mph so most of the time I started in second gear. when I went from that to my manual tacoma that thing felt like a sports car. LOL
