Thanks! I don't really like bull bars either, but I needed someplace to mount the lights, so... Hope these give you a good idea of the setup.

Many thanks. I have practically the same truck, and have struggled with where to add lights without blocking the ACC (or relocating it) and without ditching the lariat grill that I like, but is very limiting for light placement vs the XLT. This is a great solution. Thanks for sharing.

Score! Good luck with the install - my meaty hands found it tight in there and I used the longest half-inch extension I have to reach the bed bolt, but it broke free pretty easily (truck was only a month old, so I'd hope so!).

I use that step many, many times a week, it really makes a big difference (but I'm still extra careful stepping down, I'd hate to miss it!).

My install, no technical details, except for rigging an umbrella to keep the sun out of my eyes:

Good luck!
Thanx!
Yup, removal of the bed bolt was easy even on my ‘20. Installation of the step mount is done mostly blind but still not that bad. Took 1/4 of the time the instruction sheet suggests, but 4x longer than the 15 minutes some have claimed. Well worth the time and $$.

Yeah, my mistake was not setting the spacers in place before putting the assembly up. I wanted to have the step as low as possible. I'm not concerned with catching it on anything, since I don't off-road with it and I wanted it low. Not sure why I though I'd see what it was like without the shims.

Apart from that, it was just as you aptly described - installation by feel more than by sight.

And you're so right about it's usefulness. I'd probably be as well off with a small step ladder, but the convenience of the TrekStep makes it worth the expense for me.

She's getting a new battery today, Hadn't drove it in a couple of months while I've been sorting out a new to me jeep, it was flat and showing a little over 5v. Tried a trickle charge to no avail ( I knew it wouldn't work anyway ).

Pic of the Jeep with the previous owner on the fender watching the Baja 1000, RIP Uncle Ben.

Had to put a hitch receiver drop on wifey's truck to lower the step for her . Yes she is a little short and we are both in our sixties .
She appreciates the 4" drop !

I made this step out of 2" stainless steel tubing back in the late eighties and it has been used on every truck I have owned since I made it . It's on her truck because my Super Duty has the step built into the tailgate .

My in-laws ordered Husky floor liners for me, for my birthday and they arrived today. So naturally, I put them in my truck!

Nice pics and they look great. I love mine and I hope you weren't as big a goober as me with my installation.

You say "how can installation go wrong?"

Well ... I "lost" my 6-inch crescent wrench for about an hour. I looked everywhere for it and finally said to myself: "it couldn't be under the driver mat?"

Well ... =D

I can see myself doing something like that. Or, looking for that damn wrench with it in my left hand the whole time! ?

And the bad thing is that I even patted the top of the mat trying to feel it but then went on to look elsewhere! Sheesh!

I attempted to install the new Diode Dynamics hitch receiver light only to find out that our receivers aren't open in the back to route the wiring . Now I have to decide if I really want to drill a hole in it.
