I was installing the ditch light brackets, and just as I was taking off the hood retention nut my wife bounces into the garage and asked me a question. My multi-tasking skills must be slipping as I dropped the nut and it went down between the master cylinder and engine &*^%$#!!. I have a spare so I finished installing the lights as I didn't want to get side tracked again. Now I have the driver's side wheel and inner skirt off trying to find that stupid sucker. Looking in all of the critical places first, may have to continue tomorrow when I am not so pissed. Where is the Hulk when you need him, "Just pick it up, turn it over and shake it, never mind why"
Once I too dropped a nut while installing something under the hood. I spend a couple of hours over a couple of days searching for the dxxm thing before I discovered that it had fallen all the way to the floor and then bounced under a nearby cabinet. Sometimes life is just not fair.

1st thing I checked, unfortunately it landed with a 'tink' and not a 'thud'

Murphy's law, indispensable part corollary:
The part or fastener that falls or is misplaced and absolutely cannot be found will magically appear in plain sight the day the replacement arrives.

Uh... My wife has her own gun :bandit:
I worked the line at Tinker AFB on Gassillion $ aircraft..The powers that be INSIST that you locate every piece of hardware that is not accounted for..Of course if you look around, you understand that no mechanic wants to be the cause of the loss of aircraft or crew or both..Seems that hardware likes to head for the shadows, dive under the insulation blankets, or just appear after about 6 hours of searching for it. We had aircraft show up with wrenches in the fuel tanks that were there hitching a ride for 4 plus years. Of course, I would still like to ride in one of them any time..

How many flight tests have been stopped for a missing tool procedure...oh the headaches for a 10mm nut!
