I would've done the same thing and most likely sooner. You have to be happy and feel secure in the vehicle you're driving and if the Ranger wasn't making you feel that way it was time to move on. I hate negotiating price at the dealerships and have done it many times but look at it this way. You made $11K that day which is a good chunk of change! ?

Just so glad you didn't buy a Tacoma!:whew: ?
The Tacos aren’t for me lol but I did test drive the Colorado , Canyon and the Frontier. I really liked the Frontier but the price of what options I wanted and what I would have to add to the truck was about the same as the F150. The Nissian dealership wouldn’t move on the price at all because they know it’s the new trendy Taco with that 3.8 V6 naturally aspirated engine.

I've had two F-150's that I purchased new and liked them both, espeically the first one, the last year they made the 5 speed manual. Loved that truck. Both were very nice trucks but I LIVED at the gas stations! And with their big gas tanks, the bill kept on getting bigger and bigger. I cringed every time the gas prices went up! Ranger solved all of that for me. I'm on my second Ranger now, a 2024. First one was a 2019. Both average over 26mpg city driving. My 2024 is averaging 28. Makes a BIG difference, for sure.

I had my 2022 Ranger and calculated my MPG. The computer would say 19 and my calculations were 17ish. The F-150 has the 2.7L V6 and the computer is saying 19.3. Waiting to fill up and calculate it myself. I know the first 1000 miles it will be bad until the engine gets broken in.

Time with tell.

My 2024 Ranger is averaging 28 mpg and even if it’s off by a couple of points, it’s still way up there . My wallet also tells me so lol

I walked the lot at my dealer today while getting an oil change and the new F150’s are really nice. But, boy are they big!
I did the same on Wednesday ,lol. I went in for oil change on my Bronco and walked the lot dreaming. The F-150s are nice but too big for my needs . Strangely there was only 1 Ranger, and it was a Black Raptor. I bet I came back to it 4 times and had to fend off two salesmen. If I didn't have the Bronco that thing would be my choice

Btw the dealership gave me new Ranger Lariat as a loaner while they did the spray in bed liner.

I wanted to see how well the transmission drove compared to my old Ranger that had the CDF drum replaced. I didn’t feel any hard shifting but it does jerk when you let off the gas at times. The big thing I noticed is the transmission doesn’t skip any gears. Doesn’t jump at all and uses every gear.

The wider base and shocks being outside the leaf springs does help with the handling. Felt like I was driving a nice SUV.

The infotainment screen is not for me. Needs to be wider and not longer. I had to bend over to see the bottom of the screen, hence taking my eyes off the road.

I also felt it was smaller inside the cab. My butt was of the edge of the seat and the back of the seat was pressing against my kidneys lol

So what you're telling us is that despite coming from a dysfunctional family you've still managed to make good! Nice truck, I like them, my dad used to own one, I used to own the Bronco version back in the day when they were roughly the size of the current Ranger, but they're just too big and too expensive over here now.

Sorry that you had to endure a such vehicle downgrade. But any wheels are better than no wheels. Not just anyone can own a Ranger. At least you were worthy at one point in your life.

Be that as it may hope the F-150 treats you well. No doubt you'll get a bit choked up every time you pass a 5G. And justifiably so.

lol this actually made me laugh. My Ranger is in the shop with a possible engine replacement on the table. I was looking at dealer inventory on Ranger Raptors. Well walking up to my Ranger in the shop, with hood up made me smile inside. I love this thing too much. Hope they diag properly and she is better than ever before because I don't want any other truck (unless Raptor R but too poor lol).

Engine replacement? What failed? I put over 130,000 miles on my 2019 Ranger and when I traded it in, the engine ran as good as the first day I drove off the lot. Never a single issue. And is one of the reasons I got a 2024 because of the reliability of the 2.3.

It’s so hit and miss with any vehicle with your experience nowadays. I’ve been driving for 35 years now and my Ranger was in the dealership’s service department longer than all the cars I’ve own combined. I LOVED the Ranger but I got a bad one.

the new Ranger I had as a loaner was very nice and didn’t have any of the issues that mine did.

Ranger love is real.

Engine replacement?! That sucks. Going to search now to see if you've posted about the issue. If you have not, please start a thread about it. Lot of issues are tossed back and forth around here. But engine replacements are rare. The 2.3L is solid. Would really like to know what went wrong with yours. Sorry you are having to deal with that.

As to the Ranger Raptor... they are interesting but just doesn't really grab me. Of course the F150 Raptors effect me the same. I like them, respect and admire the engineering. But for me they just do not make my check book get all warm and antsy. Not that the Warden would allow me to entertain such a monetary thought anyway. :giggle:

Best of luck with the repairs.
