I was just looking at my steps app on my phone. I had done just over 16,000 and Annie did 21,000. o_O She takes such small baby steps that every time we walk and compare steps she always has a couple thousand more than I do. No wonder she was so tired and sore. lol At least I got some brownie points for this museum trip today.:whew:

Did you find a house of your dreams there?
Not yet Andy. We drove through a couple new developments but I didn't like the looks of them so we didn't bother to even go into the models. The lady at the museum told us of a couple other areas we should check out so we're going to try and look at these if we have time.

We're supposed to leave here on Thursday and head to Flagstaff for the weekend but they keep showing chance of showers each day which isn't uncommon up there. I talked to the owner of the place we're in now and he said I can have it through Sunday if I want and will give me a better rate going directly through him. Also his son is a realtor so if we stay I'll get in touch with him tomorrow and see if he can point me in the right direction as to where to look. The problem is everything is so overpriced right now but we'd still like to get an idea of the area and the prices. it's really nice out here and there's a lot to do especially if you like the outdoors.

Dave,
I hear you but I live in OC Ca. Most everything is bargain price out of state. If you want to share any insight from the RE agent that would very nice. I’ll be here for a couple more years..

Have fun!!

If we stay here (Looks like we're leaning that way) and I find any good info I'll absolutely pass it on to you Andy. We'll most likely be in AZ for a couple more years too unless I find a smoking' deal which In this market I'm not holding my breath on.

We started off heading up to Toquerville Falls. It's a waterfall out in the middle of the desert and there's a few pools where you can hang out and swim. We were up there 2 years ago and it's a really cool spot but man has it washed out a lot since then. I turned around about half way (and that was fun) as the trail isn't all that wide and there's huge rocks everywhere. I got to a point where there was a big washout under a ledge and I "think" I could've made it up but there were several big holes in front of the step up and you really needed a little speed to get up the hill to it to bump yourself over it.

We also didn't see anyone out there so like the other day I just don't like doing certain things alone and getting high centered and stuck with no cell service. Of course this was the only spot I forgot to take a picture as I was more concerned on trying to turn around and not go over the edge.

The first part is easy and just a bunch of rocks. I aired down to 21 psi and with the new Eibach it was pretty smooth compared to the the last time when I had the stock Fx4 suspension.

It's hard to see but here there's a large dip on the left side and a huge rock just over the rise. On the far right it's really the best line but you have to hug the side then once at over the top hook left or there's a drop off the right side. Not a cliff or anything but you're still sol if you go over it.

These two weren't to bad as you have to hug the left side on the lower one and the right side on the upper one. Around the corner is where I turned around. Picture this lower one with a good 3' washout under it the whole way across. If I was with someone I would've died it but it wasn't worth getting stuck and having to walk a couple miles back down the hill to call Matts Towing/Recovery. lol

Thanks Phil. Ive been keeping my eye on the weather up there and it looks like every day has a chance for storms. We had a short storm here around 4:00am but other than that it's been perfect weather with upper 90's in the day and lower 70's at night. What I love is it cools off here pretty quick so you can sit outside after dinner, not like in the valley where you get up and it's already 84 at 5:00am.

This morning I cancelled our reservations for Flagstaff and told the owner here we're going to take him up on his offer to stay through Sunday. I was hoping we could've met up in Flagstaff but maybe another time. We'll most likely try to head up there sometime in August for an extended weekend.

Very true Kent! Over the years I've learned to trust my gut and my first instinct. If there were others out there I would've felt more comfortable going ahead. I did this easily back in 2020 but it's much worse now and not worth ruing our vacation or my truck. I guess the old saying is true "To be old and wise you must first be young and stupid". Glad I've learned from my dumb mistakes. ?

Hi Dave,

Should be here in August if we do not float away! Actually, rain is helping extinguishing the forest fires. Good soaking helps the hot spots which can flare up weeks later. We can now use out bar b que again!

Best,
Phil

Today we drove around to a few different areas and neighborhood checking out the area and the houses. I did run into one lady who had just recently closed on their new house. She said things have gone crazy here (just like everywhere else) and the prices are really high now. They paid $288.00 a sq ft which is crazy high for a non custom new build.

We looked a many different areas and didn't see any open houses today so we went up the hill to a small town called Apple valley, about 7-10 miles outside Hurricane. The lady working at the museum told us about this area and said people are starting to move up there as it's a little more affordable right now.

Of course I got sidetracked when I saw this sign for Gooseberry Mesa and a long dirt road heading out into the desert. We never did get all the way to the end as the road went on forever and I was getting down under 1/4 tank but man the views out here are great. Come to find out it's a big place to go mountain biking and hiking and we were still a ways away but still had fun exploring these backroads.

You start down this road for about 2 miles and it's nothing but washboards the whole way.

Take a left at the sign and we only went another 2-3 miles in and there's several off shoots from there. I took one which looked like it was heading down into a clearing but couldn't get all the way down as the road got really rocky towards the end.

IMG_7350.jpg

The off shoots were fun and easy driving and I was in 2wd most of the time.

IMG_7339.jpg

Needed 4wd going back up this one.

IMG_7341.jpg

This is steeper than it looks and decided it's smart to stop here.
