Tie rods snap for no reason on his Bronco , Engine dies for no reason on his wife's Bronco .

Couldn't be anything he has done , no way man .

The tie rods are a noted issue and many have had their snap. Remember these? Guess they were going for the pidgeon toe look.?

Hi Phil,

You're right it shouldn't ever happen and this hill gets climbed by thousands every year. It's not driver inexperience either as it seems like this guy has done his share of rock crawling before.

I first thought it was another Tick Tok click bait article but it's not even his Bronco it's his wife's. Still could be one but from those who were there and have off roaded with him afterwards it doesn't sound like it was.

That's what makes this interesting. I've seen lots and lots of videos all sorts of people taking the new Bronco and even Ford's drivers taking the Bronco Sport up hills as or more technical and steep as this one without stalling.

It'll be interesting as to what mods he might have made and what the end cause will be claimed to be. I'm doubtful he'll own up to anything on his own part though, and if it turns out to be an engineering issue, it's likely Ford won't be releasing much until a fix is in place and even then we the public might not get told it's related to this incident.

I do find it funny how many people here jumped on "Wouldn't have happened if it had been a Jeep" bandwagon when you can easily Google Jeep off-road failures and waste days on the amount of videos of them, both owner caused and product failure. SMH.

One was climbing an icy hill on a power line and his Bronco's 4wd just died. Another's fiancé was backing out of their driveway and it just died half way into the road. Crazy stuff has been happening with these and I'm sure with all the other manufacturers out there. The Bronco gets so much attention because it's new and there's been such a list of failures already it's hard to not be in the spotlight.

so is this a possible thing to add to the ranger list of cant do things ?? very similar setups and parts on the bronco and ranger...
im pretty careful but i would have tried that. i know things always look less ominous in pictures than real life, but still. now im afraid to go up steep stuff thinking im gonna have engine failure...

I feel like Ford set themselves up for all the negative press - make a big production about taking on the reigning champ and then not only screw up quality issues but then majorly burn the customers who lined up and put down the cash to support the launch. It's a real bummer.

watch that its something as stupid as the Ranger with the 4X4 knob and it just turns out to be finger troubles

I was really trying to hit trail control really, when a got jostled on a bump and tapped the push button start/stop

All Broncos have PBS even the Base model. It would be almost impossible to do that because the GOAT modes dial is in the middle of the center console. It's a large round dial you turn and no where near the PBS.

Actually, Toyota already did this with the FJ Cruiser. The FJ was very legit off-road and the with the 4.0L v6, it was very reliable. The only real weakness that the Toyota 4.0L v6 had was it was a thirsty motor. IMO, the main issue with the FJ was that it was too retro. For everyday driving, it had terrible blind spots. I wanted to buy one, but my wife just could not deal with it. If Toyota would have just made it look like a 2-door 4Runner, they may have really had something.

The only real weakness that the Toyota 4.0L v6 had was it was a thirsty motor. IMO, the main issue with the FJ was that it was too retro. For everyday driving, it had terrible blind spots. I wanted to buy one, but my wife just could not deal with it. If Toyota would have just made it look like a 2-door 4Runner, they may have really had something.

My wife and I also looked at buying a FJ cruiser.

She sat in and took one look around and said it would be like driving a dungeon.

Told me that if I bought it she would never drive it..

Up until the 2010 model, the FJ had a nasty habit of ripping the firewall if you flexed it too much.

In retrospect I should've bought it since it would be worth what I paid for it today.

It was actually a pretty bad vehicle, but people will pay mint for certain pretty bad vehicles.

And in typical Toyota fashion, it's considered no big deal by the faithful.

If I saw this under my hood, sorry, it would be a big deal.

This guy must have more money than he knows what to do with. Given that they have two Broncos, one of which is heavily modded and the fact that this is the second time he's done major damage to his wife's Bronco.

That is very interesting. Since I do not follow FJ's, I have never seen that before. From the posts I did see on the issue, the people seemed to be pretty upset about it. They certainly didn't seem to be writing it off as no big deal.

On my next fill-up I'll compute the mpg on my Ranger. I only have 750 miles on it now. The computer is saying 17.8 mpg with @ 75% city driving. My 2011 Tacoma 4x4 with the 4.0L and stock size Falken Wildpeak AT tires was getting @ 16.3mpg.
