The engine died for no reason and this Bronco took a nice tumble backwards. From reading on another site it's his wife's Bronco and yes he has a history of pushing his Bronco to the limit. Still NO excuse for the engine to just die like that. But hey at least the tie rods didn't break. ?

was this an automatic or manual bronco ?
either way maybe he went at it in the wrong gear and the truck bogged down to the point of stall. its almost happened to me in the ranger. stupid 10 speed ... trans was in d and doing its own thing. i slowed to near stop and then went up a steep drive way and truck bogged and sputtred so i slapped it into sport and pushed the shift down button for 1 first gear. very aggravating. so im thinking a possible reason, either auto trans was off in la la land as normal and stalled. or if it was manual he was not in the best gear for the grade and didnt keep enough rpm making it stall out.

It was his wife's Bronco which is an auto, his is a manual. While reading a few more comments on B6G it seems like this has happened before.

Did anyone else wince at the Bronco Nation livestream last night where they mentioned this incident? They went on to say they are hearing more reports of engines stalling on climbs and if it happens to you, you should report it.
Another member had theirs shut down too. Even though he admits he took the wrong line and made a mistake it still shouldn't shut down.

I don't know what transmission he has, but I have the 2.7 with the auto and have had my engine stall out while wheeling over an obstacle. I don't know if it was a stall or some sort of protective feature shutting it down, but the engine quit on me at least twice.

I was in Normal mode, 4L, lockers engaged. In automode. I was on trail 21 at Windrock near the end and trying to get over a ledge. The previous trip I had made it up over the same ledge without any issue, didn't break a sweat that time, but I took a dumb line and was having some trouble. Rather than using proper technique, I started putting too much power down and the wheels would spin. After a second or two, the engine would shut off. This happened 3 times.

I should reiterate that I was driving poorly. I also should've been in manual mode and not in auto, that was an oversight on my part. The previous time I rode this section, I did it blind with no issue, but I took a dumb line this time and used dumb technique, but the automatic definitely stalled out two or three times on me in this area. When this happens, the car has to be completely shut off and turned back on again (the engine was stopped, when I say shut off, I mean the electronics)

Found some videos on his Tik Tok page. Here he shows the damage which surprisingly is minimal and explains what happened.

That is very interesting. Since I do not follow FJ's, I have never seen that before. From the posts I did see on the issue, the people seemed to be pretty upset about it. They certainly didn't seem to be writing it off as no big deal.
Indeed, quite a few were very understandably upset.

I was just surprised at the number who were trying to say it's not that big of a deal, warranty will cover it, I'll just weld it up, etc.

There was a user on the 3rd gen Tacoma forum with a brand new truck where his differential failed while driving down the road.

Members were calling him a liar, troll, everything under the sun and demanding "proof" that it actually happened. Some members were actually going to the spot where he said it happened and taking photos to see if they could find evidence of the failure.

It got so bad he left the forum.

2 weeks later Toyota issues a recall for all 3rd gen OR models for leaking rear axles and just about every member on the forum with an OR found weeping around the seals. Crickets regarding the guy whose diff exploded.

I was just commenting that there seems to be a disconnect when a brand or model has a following of White Knights who will ride in at the slightest hint of negative experience, just to point out that the problem is you and not the vehicle in question.

Dang way ya'll made it sound it rolled down a gulch and was completely destroyed..all it had was a broken mirror and some scratches ha!

True this would never happen to a Jeep as its motor would quit before it got anywhere near the top! Ha Ha!!

Have to give the guy credit- he is using it for what it was built for, not a pavement princess.

Still love to know what caused it to die - if it was just low on gas that would be pretty lame on him.

I tend to suspect as other indicated that he may have lost "fuel oil suction" (old Navy term). I know that many if not most vehicles the gas pick up tube sits down in a bit of well and if at that angle he was in there many not have been enough fuel in the well for the tube to pick it up.

Looks like me in my Rubicon, stalling it out at the most inopportune time. Mine was a 6-speed and the easiest vehicle I have ever driven to stall, literally the easiest. I think my jeep had like a 2lb flywheel... :(
