Vibrations in the seats....

So this truck is brand new and I can feel a vibration that seems constant. Usually if a wheel is out of balance you would notice it more the faster you go. This doesn't seem to do that.

If I have a plastic grocery bag in the passengers seat I can see it vibrate quite a bit, putting your hand on the seat and you can feel the pulsations. Seems to happen at most speeds and is constant. Maybe just a truck thing?

I am not sure that the constant vibration is a truck thing. I am going to bet the dealer did not set the tire pressures and they are too high. Check the pressures, or have the dealer verify this... If this is not the case, then d, you need to have the dealer address this with their NVH equipment... Tire balance changes frequency and amplitude with speed...it is not constant. So do you feel this at low speed below 5 mph? It indicates to me that something is wrong that the dealer needs to help diagnose.

I’m dealing with the exact same problem. It’s constant at anything over 65. Gets better/worse at certain speeds, but I always have a slight vibration. Tried different tires, wheels, balances, alignments, you name it. Still there. My NVH app is telling me tires, but it can’t be the tires as I’ve gone through multiple sets and two different wheels.

The dealer did indeed forget to check tire pressures, they were anywhere from 46 to 40. However I fixed that the day I took delivery. I had to go over the whole truck and remove some crayon and scratches as well. (I feel like this happens at every dealer now, vehicle prep is now just wash it and call it a day)

Currently now when the tires are warmed up I am reading 41 psi equally in all 4 now. That still seems a little too high to me however, I think I'd like to see around 38psi when warm (Or at least that's what I feel like they should be at.....)

So tire pressure are all equal at this point, I don't feel this below 5 mph. 10-15 I can start to notice it and while on the highway it does seem to get better or worse when I turn the tires in an out of lanes, but it's does not feel speed dependent so I was inclined to say it's not tires/wheels. The weird thing is that passengers have mentioned feeling a little sick riding in it. (I don't feel sick, but I am driving however) The vibration is more like a pulsation, 7 or 8 times a second, it feels like when a wheel is out balance, but does not change frequency with speed.

I am still awaiting my Tonneau cover, when I go to pick it up I'll mention the vibration to the dealer

Not sure what model you have, but my door sticker says 30lb.

Not sure what model you have, but my door sticker says 30lb.
30 PSI cold is what we have as well. But once the day warms up and I'm on the highway for a bit the built in tire pressure screen shows 41 PSI. What are you guys seeing in your tire screens after driving for a bit?

Our truck was still on delivery so we test drove one that had the same options. They have the black appearance package, so they came with the 18inch all terrain tires. I was thinking maybe the aggressive tires contribute to some of this... (As you can tell i'm not a truck person)

So you didn't take this one for a cruise when it came in?

There are a few things that could cause this, driveshaft phasing, carrier bearing, tire issues, I'd give the dealership a chance to address it.

I'll lower them a few PSI. We see pretty crazy temperature swings here so setting them cold in the morning will have them up a few psi just by sitting, then hit the highway and up a few PSI more...

OP, the only things I've seen on the forum that have been successful are correcting the rear pinion angle with axle shims - FORD TSB 20-2277 - and/or putting shims between the body and driveshaft center bearing when all else fails. Some just had out of balance wheels and tires. Keep researching and lean on a good dealer if you have one! They are supposed to have fancy NVH equipment which should at least identify possible culprits.

Don't rely on the TPMS readings in the dash display. They can be several psi off in either direction. Check tires when cold, ~ room temp or less, with an accurate tire gauge, not the one that may be on the gas station hose. My TPMS never reads what my dial air pressure gauge reads.

Yes, I certainly agree. I use a calibrated tire pressure gauge. (I used to work at a calibration lab)
