Waze no longer displays on Sync 3 screen in my 2019 Ranger

Hi everyone,

Starting about 2 weeks ago, Waze no longer displays on the when I plug my phone into the USB port. Spotify no longer displays either.

Phone: Pixel 3, Android.
Ranger: 2019 4x4 XLT with 8" Sync 3

This doesn't appear to be a hardware issue -- USB ports are clean on both the phone and the Ranger.

Any idea what's going on? Is there a work-around?

Are the apps up to date on your phone? Last time you rebooted your phone? Have you tried another cable?

One of my suspicions is that an update of Waze caused the issue. I've rebooted the phone since the no-Waze problem started.

Have you updated the sync software? You may want to update sync if you haven't already.

I've found most Android Auto problems can be solved with a new/quality cable. The cheap ones do,xt last long for AA usage.

Last week I was having Waze issues. Rebooted the phone (IoS) and it’s been fine ever since. I think it’s CarPlay acting up with upgrades.

AppLink and CarPlay/AndroidAuto are completely different interfaces. If you're using CarPlay or AA this link doesn't apply to you.

I would try a few different cables. That's usually the issue with mine acting up.

I seem to recall there is 2 ways of doing this. you might have to enter waves into your apps on the radio, or it might have been removed from your phone setting for apps to display in sync.

The last time Android Auto updated on my S20 it decided to turn off all my 3rd party apps under the Customize Launcher section. If Wayze and Spotify are missing from the AA launcher do the following and it may resolve it for you.

To access this go into settings and search for Android Auto. On mine the correct listing was under Others. Then select Customize Launcher and you should see a list of all the AA compatible apps currently installed on the phone. Make sure Wayze and Spotify are selected.
