Used car prices are crazy right now. I was looking online to see what the average price for a 2008 Chevy Cobalt was. Talk about sticker shock, Most places wanted between $5,000 and $6,000 for a used 2 door Cobalt. Mine was a 2008 2 door with a manual 5 speed and was in fair condition. I was the second owner and paid like $6,500 for it in 2011 with very low mileage from a dealer. It sold within hours of listing it at $1600.

Interestingly, the largest dealer in the central Iowa region took the opportunity to repave their lot. It's just a weird time in the auto industry right now. Gotta believe China has a hand in manipulating the market. Just my theory.

I found this 2019 Lariat FX4 with 16,000 miles on it. That price ($43k) is still pushing it. Still cheaper than $65k though. Lol

News this morning reporting that a used 2017 Dodge minivan is going for $4000 more this year than it did a year ago.
True. I just sold my FiST to Carmax. Got about $2k more than I would've got selling to a private party a year ago.

Not that odd. Renovation companies were swamped last year with restaurant work. Being forced to close makes it a good time to get work done that you've been putting off because of it's perceived effect on your business.

Pushing it? I paid $3k less for my FX4 Lariat with 23 miles on it in December.

Ridiculous is what it is.

Agreed but I meant compared to other people’s stories and my original post. This is the same dealer I got my 2020 truck from for $39k. Things have really changed in a month.

Pushing it? I paid exactly that much on new Fx4 Lariat with 500km in Loonies last fall (at 1.26 CAD -> USD)! And that was w/ 0% financing.

They're all ridiculously priced.

Nobody should be buying a vehicle, new or used, right now unless it's absolutely needed.

And if I absolutely needed one I'd buy the cheapest shitbox I could and wait for the market to normalize.

No question. There is this weird mentality where people see high prices and somehow it seems to increase their sense that they need that thing that everyone else wants right now.

Yep, that's my point. Pushing it is an understatement.

Lemmings.

This idiot I work with totalled his TJ. Insurance paid him a ridiculous amount for it, and he had the use of his father's vehicle for as long as he needed it. I told him to sit on the money and buy later but the dumbass showed up last week in brand new JL 4 Dr sport that he paid almost $40k for.

I traded in my 2015 Chevy Sonic LTZ (71k miles) on a 2021 Ranger XLT. The dealer gave me $5,500 on the trade and they're selling it for $10k. I was surprised they offered that much for it and that they're selling it for that much, especially since I only paid about $14k for it 6 years ago. It seems like many dealers are desperate to get used inventory right now.

Ford dealer in Charlottesville Va, Malloy Ford has a new Tremor selling for sticker, and any incentives that apply.
Sticker is $42,890.00. Don't know if this is a deal for anyone looking for one, but it's there.
Myers Ford in Elkton, Va, ...east of Harrisonburg has 2 new Rangers, FX4 models, selling for sticker, and also any incentives that apply.

I saw this and almost spit out some of my beer. Don’t worry, I didn’t. I bought my 2020 with 3800 miles on it for over $25k less.

Okay, I don't feel so bad for what I paid for my Black Tremor Lariat... I paid just barely under sticker ($47K)...

She said "I thought I told you to sell that D@#% truck!

He said "I'm trying but haven't got the first call on it yet."
I think THIS is what's really happening...
