I have it...unnecessary...but makes my AFE charge pipes (also unnecessary) look complete lol...because our Rangers are automatics, I've never heard them in action while driving...the only time you can hear them is in neutral. with the hood open while gunning the engine and lift...

Hum. $200+ spent just for the heck of it. If pop-off sounds are your thing, then why not eat a lot of chili?
What can I say...the cash burned a hole through my wallet before I could put it out...I have to admit I'm a sucker for "shiny objects".... ?

Doesn't one of them let the turbo free spool after letting off the throttle? Currently the engine wont spool down when you lift off the throttle due to the turbo pushing air threw it. I never owned a turbo before and almost learned the hard way as i was drifting in dirt and heading for a telephone pole. I thought as other vehicles i owned if i let off the throttle i would regain control. NOPE

I did the “free BOV” mod and it was annoying. Was the same in my focus RS with the Boomba BOV. It would open up when letting off with no not pay. The valve opens up way too much even when hardly any boost is present. This is because of the electronic actuation.
A mechanical BOV would be better if wanting one. I run a TIAL BOV on my 600whp Toyota soarer.

I have had turbo cars for a long time. Here is a decent explanation of a BOV

Believe me if someone made a device that sounded like a fart every time I let off the gas I would install it in a heartbeat

Sid, that aFe Power Magnum scoop is looking pretty lonely. I suggest you find it a roommate to keep it company.

the AFE intake is probably my next mod. I've looked at the diverter valve.

Like most have said, this is not a performance upgrade at all.
I thought I read they hold boost better a recover boost faster after shifts an part throttle.

I'll probably pass on one.

In all technicality yes; and aftermarket bpv can hold boost better. But with these trucks stock turbo; the stock valve does just fine. Now if you were planning to run more boost and had other parts such as IC. Tune. CAI. Exhaust. DP. Etc; then yes a new valve would be adequate.

We have a tune. IC. And CAI on our ranger but still stick with stock bov because it’s all we need. So besides better sound and a shiny object; put that money towards other upgrades ?
