You hit all the areas dead on. And that's why setting up a truck/hitch/trailer combo is different for EVERY application, and why it's almost impossible to answer generic questions on the site. To set up properly you must have a "hands on" approach....no matter how much info you give to us, no matter how much knowledge we may have, it's impossible to give correct answers, and why I always point people to specific sites that deal with their particular hitch.
Setting up hitch heads for use with underslung couplers is different from regular couplers and bars using chains are different from friction type bars.
Yes it can take some trial and error to get it right - wouldn't think an installer would have the time to do test drives and make adjustments, likely they do the install per the WDH instructions, might be right initially but also could need some fine tuning.

I know Grumpaw is retired but he could make some money as a "hitch consultant" . I recently saw a local job posting for a "ditch rider" , so why not a "hitch consultant" .

Thank's for the "kudo's" !!! I have helped set up 3 of the camper owners hitches in our development all without problems, and all are happy with the outcome. And each took a bit of 'tweaking" after the initial set up. Takes a bit of "on again/off again" and each one was a bit different.
Would never think of taking $$$ for it...just the neighborly thing to do.

I will add....don't take it for granted that your selling dealer will properly set up your hitch for you. The techs that work at RV dealerships, and the sales people rarely own campers, and most do not know the first thing about setting a hitch/trailer combo properly.
Best advice I can give is to seek out a reputable company that installs hitches, or, seriously, seek out someone who has been towing and is familiar with setting up hitches.

ty well.
Really can't judge a setup by a picture. Looks OK trailer is level.

Without knowing axle and tongue weights before hooking up, axle weights after hooking up without bars and with bars. Even then it's still a judgement call. As Grumpaw said every setup is different and constantly changing. What is the load in the bed of the truck, how is the camper loaded, is there water in the tanks, how much. Best you can do is make sure your bars are correct for the tongue weight and your setup does not transfer too much or too little weight to the front axle of the truck. The last thing you want to do is remove any weight from either axle.

Probably got too wordy, that's the retired engineer in me. ?
