great idea!
If you go that route, the bolts that come with the hitch aren't long enough for a standard 4 inch trailer frame...had to get longer from Lowes along with nylock nuts. If worried about someone trying to remove via taking nuts/bolt off, chew up the thread ends with a pair of Vice Grips.

Definately use a high quality hitch lock.
Also bought one of those "Bumper Hitch Mounts" and attached it to the trailer frame...allows me to "store" the hitch head when camping so it's off the truck while driving around....and use the hitch lock for security.
This one was $35.00 from Amazon....

I almost bought that from AMAZON based on this post. Then I remembered my trailer had a hitch on the back and low and behold its a 2inch. So, now I've found a place to store at home and camp. Picked up a trailer hitch lock the the China Tool Store today.
