Not sure but other than the initial dealer fill I don't believe my Tremor has seen anything but 93. If so then I've just flat out forgotten that I did so.

Initially wasn't tracking my mileage other than eyeballing the lie-o-meter. But back in July I started using the Fuelly app. Since then and 7K+ miles later I'm averaging 22.014. Worst ever was 16.8 and I can't for the life of me figure out what I did that time. Best fills were a couple of 25+. I seem to be able to consistently get upper 23's, with occasional low 24's on trips. Recently the Warden used the truck for a 400 or so mile trip. She barely averaged 20 mpg. :giggle: Do what? Hell no I didn't mention that to her! :surprised:

Doesn't help the OP with his question. But with it being a turbo engine I feel better feeding it only Top Tier 93. (Same with my ST.) IMHO if it has an ecoboost 93 makes it happier.

Does it run better? Sure! My heart tells me so. Does it get better mileage? No flipping clue. Of course I am also the guy who loves driving one of my vehicles right after an oil change because the engine is just so much happier. :like:

Please answer the question. How does YOUR mileage vary?
I mainly use 93, because in my mind it ages better than 87. I have 7,500 miles on my almost 3 year old Ranger. That said, I have never seen any noticeable difference in fuel economy or performance when using 87. I'm not tuned, so there really isn't a need for it.

See, and I bet you have no transmission problems.

How is your blend door? ?

I won't speak to the difference in mileage but I'm a little shocked so many of you can't even break 20mpg. Driving like a complete ass hole I can easily average 20mpg, I commute in Massachusetts traffic where you're frequently reaching speed of 90+ then slowing down to a crawl and back up to speed. I have the fp 91 tune, the fp fox leveling kit and larger than stock bfg all terrains. If I stay closer to the speed limit, 55-65, I can easily average 24mpg. Best I've ever gotten was 31mpg on a trip up to New Hampshire, that was zero traffic while sticking to 55. I also do the math at the pump every fill to make sure the trip meter is still reporting the correct milage.

Meh. I get ~17mpg I'm city driving.

I'm rarely on the highway, and when I am it's 80 mph.

If one is so concerned with mpg's on a vehicle they should get a vehicle designed for high mpg, not a ranger. I think Toyota is having a sale on priuses this month.

After 30 months and 42K, running on 87 when gas was over $4, and 97 when gas is lower, I see no difference in MPG between the two.

Took me a while to figure out how my wife is able to get 16mpg in our 4-cylinder Camry, after a lot of head scratching, I noticed she left foot brakes and I would guess she is dragging the brakes while accelerating. Never said anything about it because her commute is 9 miles round trip.

At the risk of being a smartass, truth right there.

For a mid-sized truck I absolutely have zero complaints about the mileage of my Ranger.

Yeah, I think is what the OP is wondering… and I do wonder myself as to why the gas mileage reports vary so much … even tho we all know it’s different drivers and different scenarios. You would think the results would be a bit closer in a way? As someone else said though, I’ve filled the truck and driven it like grandma and get worse mileage than the previous tank of driving ā€œnormalā€.
A note about different drivers…I have an uncle by marriage with a 3.5EB F150. He can’t keep the go pedal modulated. He is on and off the throttle on a dead level road ?. Another family member stated ā€œwhen he is driving everyone is in agreementā€ because your head will literally nod from his lack of coordination.

I don't put cheap whiskey in me, and I don't put cheap gas in the Ranger , we both deserve the good stuff... (93 also keeps the water out of the spark plug wells ...)
Ewww cheap whiskey.

What are we, animals?

Please answer the question. How does YOUR mileage vary?
Dave as you can see this is a hotly debated question, with a lot of emotion. Most of the responses seem to be minimal gain if any. The responses are more about performance. They are also somewhat regional. Remember gas availability, cost and grades vary throughout the country.

In my case, I do not have 93 available, only 91 without ethanol. I can get 87 E10 and 89 E15. I have run all three at one time or another. I don't keep a close track of my mileage and don't care, not why Ibought the truck. I did notice a slight, and a do mean slight, increase in mpg using 91. For the way I drive any performance gain was unnoticed. That and the 80 cent per gallon cost difference, in my area, was not justified. I am currently running the 89 E15 as it is 5-20 cents per gallon cheaper than the 87 E10 and Ford says I can run it. By the my 2019 XLT FX4 is unturned and my transmission shifts just fine at 32K miles.

Input is a good thing, but Your experience and choice can only be yours based on your location and what is important to you.
