I dunno man ... taking a sponge or anything like it and doing some "hard" scrubbing is just begging for marks in your clear IMHO. but I agree that most are ok to try. and like you, I lost it at the razor blade thing ... LOL
Agree! That's why said to "blot" the area. Most will rub it way to hard and then find scratches.

True story. In 1996-7, I lived in Alabama for a year while my wife was going to school. I really wanted a 1995 Mustang Cobra 2-top (removal hard top plus soft top). San Diego dealer got only two and wanted ADM of $15K - nope. MSRP was about $30K. On line found a used one with 1,800 miles in MI. The hard top had never even been off. The guy wanted $28K but came down to $27 on the phone. I went to see it and it was covered with tree sap and had a couple of small dings. Seller had just married a woman with 3 kids and bought a house. Can you say "anxious to sell?" He said he'd tried to get the sap off but was unsuccessful. I told him I'd probably have to have it repainted and that would cost me $4K or so. I walked out with the car for $19K, took it to my detail guy. He removed the sap and PDR took care of the dents. Sold it two years later for $22K. I brag about it because I'll never do that deal again. Most people have never heard of the 2-top Mustang. Ford made 499 of them. All were Cobras and were identical, black with black top and tan leather interior. Talked to the top subcontractor and he told me Ford kept changing the spec and price kept going up to the point Ford said no. It was initially supposed to be a regular production option but due to cost was not offered except for those 499 Cobras.

I've been considering fostering beavers.

As for the isopropyl I don't think you want it full strength. I think you want a 50/50 with distilled water.
You can certainly do 80% but my experience with 100% was exceptional.

It's that time of year in my neighborhood when sap is falling out of the trees. Does anyone have an idea how to clean tree sap off the truck?
Hi Pete,
The key thing is to not let the sap dry and harden.
You will find it easy to remove by using simple warm water and wash cloth.
No need for chemicals.

Acrysol made by Kent Automotive. It works great. I have been using it for 15yrs. My wife parks under pine trees at work. I remove sap at least 20 times a year from her Durango. Plus it doesn’t hurt the paint. I clean the area with a spray wax afterwards. Not sure if it helps but it makes me feel better lol.

Thank You ALL for the tree sap removal advice. I'm gonna try the rubbing alcohol, because I have a bottle that I use as a bug remover. Thank you all
Just remember to wash the area and wax it when you're done.

Whatever you do get it off ASAP. My daughter had a Ford Probe, dark blue, and was at college and got sap on it. Till I got to it when she came home, it had been on a while, in the sun, etc. It came off but the paint underneath was permanently damaged. I tried rubbing compound and other stuff, but the spots were forever there, until I sold it.

I try to keep protective coating on my truck for any kind of dirt. Bugs and bird poop much easier to remove and paint is protected.
After winter I worked on my truck with some special liquid meant for tar removal for vehicles. Made her “skin” very smooth. No clay needed, 15 minutes and done. Will repeat it when I feel the need by touching.
