Fun fact about the 10R80. It's not the Horsepower that it's rated for, but the Torque that it's rated for. How much Torque is the 10R80 rated for you ask? 800 FT LBS of Torque to be exact. So before you do a claimed upgrade to the transmission, make sure it is within that Torque Rating.

Yeah torque is what breaks things. The power of the ranger isn't the problem for the 10r80, it's Ford's manufacturing of the trans that's the issue which is why the aftermarket has a job, to fix Ford's cost cutting measures.

I think the main issues with the 10R80 is that Ford joined with GM in designing it. And we all know how well Gub'ment Motors are built.;)

You have to remember that Ford is the most made fun of manufacture in the world simply for the fact that they have "Better Ideas"than others and prove it......

Back in my day, you usually wanted a GM engine and transmission and Ford was known for their exceptional "rear ends" ... which make sense to me now after dealing with them on this stupid turn signal...

You aren’t making anything near 725hp
The stock engine will usually let go around 500 crank hp. It would take some serious work to make one that can handle that.
The stock transmission does just fine for handling power. My truck makes around 460hp at the crank and the stock transmission has zero problem with that.
That’s completely fair. I have to replace the transmission due to the bushing in the CDF drum being bad, F gear is completely burn out, and some of the gears may be stripped, so either a fully new transmission from Tier one, or a rebuild is necessary. If I have to put the money in anyways, might as well add more horsepower to the engine. Not too well informed with aftermarket parts as I’ve always kept my vehicles stock, so a new experience to say the least hahaha

correct me if I’m wrong but I believe these 10T80 transmissions were built in a combination effort by ford and GM hahaha

I am not sure that I am understanding your question.

A new transmission will not be supplying more power to the wheels, so I don't see the need to upgrade anything due to a transmission replacement.
hahah yes my bad. I was trying to write the Original post when I was at work. Fixed the wording better

It’s not like you can go any faster than 30 on the Gardner or DVP and not much more than 120 on the 401 but I get it - you want some power.

Upgrade all the plumbing going in, all the plumbing going out, including CAI and exhaust. Possibly the turbo, then tune the pants off it. Should be plenty fast.
yes, I was thinking installing an upgraded Turbo, a proper cold air intake, not one of those useless, CAI that sits in the engine bay instead of connecting to an outside source of air 🤣 tuning is a good idea, which I’ve never tuned or brought one in to tune before so new experience hahah. And a new upgraded intercooler kit as well. Other than that, not too sure of what else. I know fords have had some issues with aftermarket spark plugs so wont touch that territory until further research 🤣

Just like their ford f-150 lightnings 🤣 couldn’t tell you how many of those trucks went into shop for dead/destroyed batteries within the first month of people purchasing

completely agree. The 10R80 has potential if the manufacturing was good. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe a big issue is the bushing in the CDF drum which is notorious for replacement. Luckily there is an aftermarket CDF drum and parts that are better made, only down side is the price. But hey, if you want something done right & fixed gotta put that money out
