Ford must have had a reason for that restriction, no?
Yeah take that restriction out and the truck will self destruct. It'll make so much boost the tranny seals will let go and the bcm will backfeed to the ecm and fry the starter relay.

I'm happy I went with a very mild exhaust. I found a good deal on the Gibson and was hesitant at first hoping for something louder. After several road trips I'm very happy I went this route. I noticed a good bump in power in the top-end, but have the OZ tune.

The stock muffler is a little over engineered. I cut it open to get a look. I actually knocked the restrictor out with a jack handle and it must have blew out of the muffler because I could find it in the case. I circled the location where the restrictor is located, I noticed a little bump when I knocked it out, but could have been placebo.

Misleading. That small hole is not the only exhaust path.

I would do an exhaust if it was a V8. Being a 4 cylinder I don't want the farty fart civic sound. Is there a system that sounds good on our trucks?

Turbo's love to breathe! I built turbo cars back oh, 15yrs ago? The stock exhaust was always the first thing to go. And a turbo 4cyl, does not sound anything like an NA 4cyl. I dyno'ed many a car before and after and never had a loss of power.

A 4banger is more or less always gonna sound like a 4banger, especially at higher revs.

I have an afe muffler delete on my truck and it has a nice low(er) growl/burble at lower revs.. but you mash the pedal and there's no mistaking what kinda motor is making the noise.

ya once it goes into the muffler... that restriction thou seems to be right at the opening to go into the muffler... so unless you think the exhaust goes outside and around there is only one way in to the muffler.....
The restriction is not at the beginning. It’s at the other end. The perforations are before the restriction.

When I was thinking about replacing my stock exhaust I was concerned the sound would be weak. Well I was totally wrong. I put the Ford performance exhaust on the truck by Borla and I LOVE it.

it has A deep tone when you start it up and looks sweet.

I only paid $950 for it from Stage 3 Motorsports. The price has now gone to $1245 and I am not sure I would have paid that much.

I have had no issues at all with the exhaust.

I got the Ford Performance by Borla exhaust for mine as well. I went with the black tips since I have a COM Ranger with black appearance package.

Not as loud as the ETS ti cat back on the RS, but sounds good.
