Folks,

Still new at this truck thing, I have the Hankook Dynapro atm tires all terrain , snowflake/3peak tires which came with the truck.
1 - Rear Front tires cupping, maybe Misaligned ? edit
2- Rear tires way more used then front.
3 - 35k km. All highway.

I moved front to back. I'm a little upset that the dealer never rotated my tires. I usually do the rotation but since I brought it to the dealer
I figured they would do it.
At a shop I was talking about the truck tires cupping(not which tires) as they were doing an alignment on my car & they told me, 'rear tires cupping?'.
They proceeded to tell me to inflate my tires to 50, already at 38. I mentioned the ride would be affected & they said yes but your tires will wear
properly.
So, I've been on this site for a while & have read the opposite for comfort but what about tire wear?
Guess I'll be going in for an alignment soon.
Was at dealer today for recall & mentioned my issue, they seemed to understand & now I get to talk to the service supervisor tomorrow, lets see where
this goes as I think they should have rotated my tires at the second oil change last march.

That isn't the way to fix a tire wear problem... that is some redneck crap.

That said. My Genesis had a set of tires that started that. I thought it was an alignment or strut issue. Both were good. Got a better set of tires and it never did it again. Right up until it was hit by a dude high on PCP and I traded it after they refused to total it... but that was a good 50k miles on the better tires without seeing the issue again. Pretty much had that set of tires worn out when it got smashed. (I have terrible luck with idiots destroying my parked cars....)

Hope it is an easy fix. A real fix I mean; not overinflating the tires to change the contact patch....

I found this case study which does a pretty good job of explaining the various causes of cupping, and what can be done about it. Worth reading before you speak with your service guys. As Patrick says, tire quality might be an issue, but it could also be tire balance, bent rims, or suspension. I hope for your sake that it's just a matter of getting a better quality tire.

Yes with a solid rear axle you shouldn't experience alignment issues unless the spring saddles are not bolted on properly or the centre bolt holes are in the wrong position.

Do not put your tires at 50psi. Whoever told you that is an idiot.

Simply rotate your tires and use the factory specified pressure if using the factory size. It's listed on your door jamb.

If you've only had one oil change a rotation might not have helped. Rotating at a 10k mile interval is about twice as far as recommended.

Did you ask for "an oil change" when you went in? Or did you ask for a rotation as well?

Blessing in disguise IMHO. The Hankooks are absolute shit. Take the oppurtunity to buy some proper tires.

If there is a chance of the dealer stepping up and saying the tires are defective (I know, good luck) see if they bite on upgrading and giving credit for the factory replacement value. Who knows, might be your day. If so, buy a lottery ticket too! ?

I rotate my tires every 5K miles (front to back). I always use the factory recommended tire pressure. I always do an alignment (and suspension component inspection) after the first 5K miles, anytime I replace tires or after any suspension work.

If you only have had your dealer work on it, they can tell you definitively what has been done. I think I would take Trig’s advice and ask for some compensation on some new hides. Once they are badly cupped, they aren’t going to get better.

So the correct infated tire pressure for your truck will be stated on a door placard on the drivers side on the door or door seal(body). Also due to no rotation is why they are cupping

Another thing to keep in mind (doesn't pertain to the OP) is if you have larger tires and a larger spare make sure you rotate the spare tire too.

Much appreciated guys.
Yes they are inflated 38 as per door.
Funny thing is, with my sport car I had to argue with the dealership NOT to rotate, as I was doing it.
I never asked to rotate as I thought they would have done it, silly me.
I'm thinking of getting dedicated winter tires anyway, lets see tomorrow.
I did not think these were bad tires but not great either.
