tire choices

yeah another tires thread..

Tires will be driven 50% HWY 50% gravel, forest roads, BLM / Ranch roads. They will see some snow and ice and will be E load for durability.

I am deciding between :
Cooper st maxx- I have ran a few sets on other vehicles and always loved them
Yokohama x-at
falcon at4w
Goodyear ultra terrain AT

I don't know which on your list are load E rated, so,
I have a set of Yokohama Geolander AT G015 on my Ranger. They have a slightly agressive tread, but are true E rated 10 ply tires. I tow a heavy camper with a 700 lb tongue weight, and when towing pump the rear tires to 50 lbs and that gets rid of any "squirm" as opposed to the stock 2 ply OE tires.
They do "sing" a bit on asphalt, and I don't know just how good they are in snow/ice as we really didn't get any last year.
Had them about 1 1/2 years, no problems, and Discount Tire rotates every 5000 miles. I run 35 psi for daily use and ride is not harsh at all for a 10 ply tire.

All the tires listed come in a 10ply.
The G015's are great tires, we put a set on my wife's 4runner a few yrs back she loved them. I am looking for little more aggressive tire. We run some pretty shitty roads for work. A lot of guys I work with use MT's but I just hate listening to them on the HWY.

I'd throw a vote in for the KO3's, I just got a set to replace my worn Duratracs and so far i'm very impressed. Despite the E load rating, they ride very nicely and oh my god are they quiet... i didn't know an all terrain could be so quiet!

I live in rainy Florida (in the summer) so I got Michelins Cross Climate 2. I think I can cross a river and not hydroplane! lol

Nokian Outpost nat have 2 load ratings and great reviews from what I have seen. 1 of the better AT tires in the winter.

Of that list, I'd go Falken Wildpeak AT4W.

I had my tires narrowed to the Falken above, or Cooper Raad+Trail. I got the Coopers in XL load and have been very happy with them. I would have been just as happy with the Falkens. If I recall, I choose the Coopers due to cost, slightly better wet traction and the availability of XL load in the size I wanted, with the XL load being the main deciding factor.

I sort of agree with you. The giant blocky lettering, and aggressive sidewall makes the tires harder to clean. The coopers I got were less aggressive on the side than the Falkans.

My 265/70/17 KO2's are great in every way...nice riding, tracking and showing minimal wear. Will be looking at the KO3's when they need replacing.

I have over 25k miles on the Cooper Rugged Trek load range E. They have been great so far. More aggressive than I need on a daily basis. When I get in muddy ruts they are a saving grace.

unfortunately rugged treks don't come in the size I am looking for.
I will mostly like end up with Falkens AT4W or Yokohamas X-AT
