Is the rubbing sound like it's against a hard object of or soft liner? Can you feel it through the steering wheel? While the sound is happening, shut off and park without turning the wheel...get out and inspect what is making contact....

Look The front mud flaps in front of the tires, after my upgrades that was the only place they rubbed (new crash bars, level lift & 285x70x17's. Mine only rubbed at the end of the drive as I turned to go straight after backing out, slightly downhill. I took my flap guards off and used my band saw to trim them up to the 1st curve, can't even tell. No more rubbing.

I'm wondering if the tire rub you are hearing might actually be the ABS kicking on momentarily when turning and hiting a good bump(like going onto a driveway)?

It might not be, but it sounds like it. I’ve had it happen so severe to the point of it slows the truck down significantly

I have felt this before and I think as someone eluded above it's the ABS breaking kicking in for a split second due to a bump or uneven surface.

that’s odd, its extremely aggressive and loud, didn’t think abs would sound like that.

The ABS can get loud. Its a pain in the but too. That said at least you know its working. Something to look out for when it happens again, is the traction/slip light flashing when it happens? If so that is the culprit and considered normal operation

Are you sure you’re not driving around in 4H?

He would have more than a rubbing noise at that point. More like a binding noise wich is way worse. That said I have seen people do that.....

@Fletcher ...go to an empty parking lot...repeat the condition while turning...STOP when you hear this rubbing noise...keep the steering wheel in same position...place in park...shut off engine while hold steering wheel so it stays in current position...get out and inspect the wheel and wheel well...see what is making contact...
