So have a 22’ I bought used with 1700 miles on it. Today I noticed a slight thump or thud right under my left foot. It happened when turning left and once again when the engine turned back on and I went to accelerate, so right at takeoff. It’s hard to pinpoint but I can feel the thud under my left foot when it happens. It’s hard to pin point exactly but seems to originate directly under where my left foot sits maybe 6 inches in front of the seat. Anyway I’ll keep more of an eye out tomorrow but figured I’d see if anyone else has noticed this. Maybe something completely normal with the auto stop or something similar?

Sounds like something's binding up. Did you hit the 4wd button by accident and engage it?

Hi Shane,

This does not describe a systemic problem as I recall. My first blush is the driveshaft slip yoke is in slip/stick mode. Need a bit more data though. If you come to an aggressive stop, do you feel this thump? How about right turns?

Depending on how handy you are, also check for loose lug nuts on the left front wheel and if you can pull the wheel/tire and inspect to see if there in a broken sway bar link etc....

Could be necessary to take it to the dealer, but if not repetive...diagnostics might be tough

Best,
Phil

No, definitely didn’t do that. It was a weird sensation through the floorboards, right under my left foot. Noticed it leaving work for a split seconds when leaving parking lot and the. Didn’t notice it at all until after I got back home and decide to go get gas later in the evening.

Haven’t felt it at aggressive stops at all. Noticed it at a right turn leaving work and a left turn later this evening. I would even say it was really in the turn but had my steering wheel turned ahead of time and let off the brake and felt it. So really almost no speed, steering wheel turned, and once again right after auto stop disengaged right about the time I was gonna give it some gas. There are so many automatic things in these trucks it’s hard to differentiate between something mechanic or all the clicks I hear just sitting still. Definitely could feel it in my left foot under the flooring but relatively minor in comparison to larger mechanical issues.

im having a thud clunk on my 22 as well (mine has 10k miles thou) when i turn left but it only happens when the body rolls in the turn other then that it wont do it... my guess for mine is the sway bar end links...so im gonna remove it and see if it continues to do the noise if not then cool its a sway bar end link if not then well idk...

Yeah it’s weird, mine almost feels like a solenoid is firing right below my foot. Doesn’t quite feel mechanical but I’ll look for it tomorrow on the way to work to see if I can pinpoint it better.

mine for sure is something binding and popping loose... have experience from my tacoma and stuff failing after years of hard abuse haha but it didnt have a sway bar i took it off at 50k miles so ill be pretty disappointed in the ford sway bar if it broke at 10k miles with next to no use offroad like what i use to do...
