I’ve got a 2021 XLT.. it’s got 91,000km…

between the stupid things going wrong with the truck, and my experience thus far with Ford service has me wanting to trade up…

I love the truck. But I don’t want to pay to fix things once I’m out of warranty. (Bought extended bumper to bumper to match factory 100,000km power train warranty)

My Ranger has been in the shop more times than the last 3 vehicles I’ve had combined.. power windows… rear window seals.. struts… a control arm.. EGR issues… All the body panels are out of whack, not a huge deal but it’s pretty bad… I’m function over fashion but NOTHING lines up… I’m having HVAC issues… severe clicking… and of course the techs can never replicate at a note of $40 a time just to listen…. I don’t want to get stuck with that repair after my warranty…

and now today my tailgate won’t open. It’s the passenger side latch.. pretty sure the rod to the handle broke…

WTF!

its 2 years old! Bought it October of 2021!!!

what’s next!?

am I the only one?

and my last oil change the tech forgot to put the filler cap on and oil blew all over my engine… I got my money back but Jesus…

I want to keep the truck because I need it for its off road capabilities.. it’s very good off road.. better than my Tacoma was.. the ability to lock my rear diff at any time is big for me.. and the truck crawls and is smoother than the Toyota…

but that damn Toyota was never in the shop more than 2 times in 160k for an actual problem..

talk me down!

Nope.
You're frustrated, and rightfully so.
Life's too short to be so stressed over a truck.
Move on to something else that'll bring you some joy.

Yeah that’s a lot of stuff gone wrong. Impressive you’re still holding on. Many other would’ve bailed by this point.

On the one hand, you can cut your losses and move on, if you have the means. The issues you listed seems to justify it.

If you wanna just grit your teeth and fight on, your active issues you listed didn’t seem like they were keeping the truck from driving.

Are you trying to avoid the financial implications of moving on?

A wise man once told me, you’ve got two bags: one for the money, and one for the shit. When one of em’s full, it’s time to go.

Let me ask you this?
How long before it becomes a reliability and safety issue?
What happens when the malfunction is no longer an inconvenience and it leaves you stranded in some nasty cold weather?

It is a tool, a machine. It has no loyalty to you and you owe it no loyalty. The contract between man and car goes as far as reliability. My truck can count on me as long as I can count on it. When that time comes that I can't, then it's time to dump it on Big Al's used car lot and get something that works.

Yeah, it’s you. My 2019 Lariat is nearly flawless with 40,000 miles on it! Couple minor issues early on and working and looking marvelous now!

Agree with the sentiments above. Just wanted to point out that the tacoma is a brand new generation for this year. There will be kinks to be worked out, even on a toyota.

Car makers continually improve on models. I know my 2023 has improvements over the 2019 model.

I also have a 2023 XLT. Still low mileage (8k) but everything is peachy keen. I love it.

The thing is, I don’t want to toss it… this truck is perfect for what I need in a vehicle. Everyone could use something bigger especially me, but I don’t want to deal with bigger

I own quite a bit of property that I like to access through some shitty roads and this truck has been superior to the Tacoma I had for its off road abilities.

I guess this thread was more of a vent than anything…

My problems didn’t start till around 70,000km… So I’m glad I bought the extended bumper to bumper.

I just dropped it off at the dealer for the tailgate and HVAC so we will see what happens.

Touch wood I’m at 88,000km and no issues so far. Shitty you’re going through this. We’ll see this summer as we’re moving across the country to Nova Scotia towing a trailer.

I had the same situation with the Frontier I had before this truck. It's frustrating for sure. Finding a dealer that will fix stuff is like finding a unicorn it seems.
