If you want a new truck, go buy it. You now have the OTD price for the new Lariat so what do you think you will get for your 2021 Ranger? That is the figure I would be looking at.

If you keep you 2021 Ranger, and the transmission goes, you will be paying cash, and you will have options. You will definitely have the option of private garage or the dealer. You will also have rebuild options that the warranty may prevent. In other words, you may have a rebuild that is done correctly rather them replacing certain parts. Last your repair time will be way faster than any of us with the warranty so the rental car cost may only be 3 to 4 days.

Later this year the extended warranty runs out on my wife's Mercedes GLC 300. If I go by dealer repair rates, it may make sense to upgrade to a new car. German cars can be very expensive to repair and a $4-$5k repair is not uncommon at a dealer. If I use private garage rates, I'll be looking at @ 65% of what the dealer will charge. In this case, it is probably better to keep the car and have an emergency fund to cover repairs. If I can get away with @ $2500/year in repairs and maintenance say over the next 5 years, I'll keep it. I would probably lose close to $12,500 in one year in depreciation on a new GLC 300.
Good food for thought.

Do what I do and give it a week. Usually by then if I still have the "urge" I'll start looking into it more seriously then. Sometimes it's just a passing thought that sounds good "Oh, look at that shiny new Ranger" then the wheels start turning. Usually it goes away and I'm off looking for something else to buy. lol
I actually noticed it when I was walking the lot at my last service on about Feb.4. Two price drops since.

I will never have another car payment whether I keep my 5G or get something newer. That said, I have weighed in the potential for having to fork out for a new transmission, and the rental car while it's being fixed.
For me, I don’t think I’ll get more than $30k-ish for the ranger, probably less since it has a few dings and scratches. Haven’t checked the sale value on it recently. That’s not enough to buy anything new.
I don’t want to trade the ranger for something just as old or older with just as many miles. I also don’t want to make payments on another truck. I think it makes more sense to just bite the bullet and fix the transmission.
Especially since I’ve dumped quite a bit of time and money on upgrades and modifications. It doesn’t make much sense in my head to do all that just to turn around and sell it.

Heck, I was only expecting around 20k for my '21 with over 75k miles on it. I even got a Carvana offer for right around there.

10r60 is a smaller number than 10r80. So based on typical ford nomenclature it is weaker. They both have had issues. More powerful twin turbo with a lower rated transmission or what you have? Choices bud. They can be hard.

Not more powerful, unless I tune it. My tuned 5G is much more powerful than the stock 2.7L in the 6G. And I have read somewhere that the power rating of the 5G is beyond what will ever be needed, and why they used it in the F150. Bud.

Realistically they probably produce the same power rating after a 2.3 is tuned. The 10r80 is rated much higher than needed, but the torque rating means so much more than how much power you can shove through it.

Better duty cycle, less stress on parts, can take a lot more abuse.

I personally prefer over built and robust components when possible. But its your money. Just giving a solid counter argument for the transmission we all love to hate.

I appreciate your argument. Pretty sure my Livernois tuned 2.3 is producing more than 315HP. Sub 6 second 0-60 would suggest that's true.
