Not my pictures, but pretty cool shots and story nevertheless.

The Northwest Angle in Minnesota, the northernmost part of the lower 48, has been cutoff since the only way to get there is through Canada, and the border has been closed for the last 10 months. This winter, in order for the resorts and businesses to stay in business, the residents decided to build/plow out an ice road 22-miles across Lake of The Woods so that people can come and go again.

That's like 6 lanes wide! Looks more like a highway. :)

I'd guess they do that to create a snow fence to keep drifts from filling in there road. Snow fences need to be set back far enough away so the drifts don't land where you want to drive. This is why you see permanent snow fence some states build, so far off the road.

We have a new Ranger at work...2021 Lightning Blue. I spoke to the guy at length, he works in our city print shop as a designer. Maybe we’ll have a new member amongst us soon.

My mom cracked something with her 14 year old subaru. Fearing it may be totaled, my dad and I fixed it ourselves. He found a junkyard bumper and did the bodywork and masking. I primed it, wet sanded, colored, cleared, cut and buffed it. Turned out fairly decent, I think. Internet order the paint and it matched great. Many beers were consumed during the process, I will confess.

I'm sorry I keep posting all these cold weather pictures, but some of these are too special and unique. Like this one! A "steam devil" over Lake Superior this weekend (Saturday, February 6, 2021)! Steam devils are similar to dust devils and can develop during cold air outbreaks when the lakes are comparatively warm. For comparison, the lake temp is slightly above freezing (+33-34F), while the air temp has been well below 0F for days now.
Also a good shot of the sea smoke that's been covering the lake for a few days due to the cold weather.

We get some pretty unique weather conditions here because of the big lake!

I'd be like a kid in a candy store trying to decide which one I want. lol There's a couple people on the Bronco forum who work at MAP and they're always posting pictures of the Bronco's and parts from inside the plant. IDK if I'd like to work there but it would be cool to take a tour and watch them build the Ranger and Bronco. ?
